We are now a few weeks away from our second tournament of the year so its time to fill everyone in with the details.
Where: Navarro Mills Lake;
LIBERTY HILL PARK (EAST RAMP)When: February 20th
Currently the lake is 6.19 high and dropping about .5 per day. At that rate that puts the lake back down to normal level in about 12 days IF we dont have any more rain. We are currently 20 days out from the tournament. All these theories are just my thoughts and opinions but I have spoken with the COE for Navarro Mills several times. He is aware of our tournament and is telling me they expect to have at least one ramp open by February 15th. Any rain between now and then could push that date back. The tournament is currently scheduled to be held at Oak Park but that could change do to water level and ramp availability.
I have contacted the majority of our members on the matter to get their opinions and as of now the tournament will still be scheduled for Navarro Mills. Any rain between now and then may result in the tournament being rescheduled. If we have to reschedule the tournament will be February 20th on Lake Limestone. In this situation Navarro Mills will be moved back to October 15th.
The Westworld Country Inn in Hubbard will be host hotel for this tournament. They are located on Highway 31 in Hubbard, about 12 miles from the boat ramp. Call them at (254) 576-2541 to book your rooms. Be sure to tell them you are with Central Texas Catfish Trail to get the discounted rate of $35 per night.
Peggys Place located at 1355 FM 667, Purdon TX will host the captains meeting Friday night. They will be serving their normal Friday night special all you can eat catfish, as well as a full menu.
More information on the captains meeting is listed below.
Now thru February 18th - We are accepting memberships and pre-registrations. Call, text, PM, email, or however else you may communicate with me that you need a membership and/or entry form. I will find a way to get those out to you. I prefer email but if another method is better for you I can accommodate to fit your needs. You may return those memberships and entries to me via mail with a check to secure your spot in the CTCT tournament series. If you would like to meet locally in the Temple area I can make arrangements to accept cash or check face to face.
February 19th - 7:00 p.m. - Tournament registration and captains meeting will be held at Peggys Place which is located at 1355 FM 667, Purdon TX. At this time we will be taking memberships, tournament registrations, go over all rules, and how things will work on tournament day. Might be a little smack talk and fish stories going around as well.
February 20th 6:30 a.m. - Boat inspections & late registrations will be held in the parking lot near the boat ramp at Oak Park. This will be a quick inspection to ensure livewells are empty, check number of rods in boat, etc. Following inspections teams will be allowed to launch boats and begin pursuit of the monster catfish that will bring home the pot of gold and
bragging rights for them.
February 20th - 7:30 am - Time to get them hooks wet and put those big girls in the boat.
February 20th - 3:00 pm - All hooks need to be in the boat. Time to crank up the outboard and haul butt for weigh in.
February 20th - 4:00 pm - Have 1 member in weigh-in line with your fish. Hopefully it takes both of you to carry them to the scales.
Following all teams weighing we will sort out results, award prizes, and give a few high fives. Feel free to ask and/or share with other anglers how and where you caught fish. Hopefully everyone can walk away from this tournament; win, lose, or draw, feeling that they had a great time, and learned something that will help them catch more, and bigger catfish in the future.
