My wife and I are taking our first trip to Falcon tomorrow, Any advice from you guys that have been done there? Pretty weird.... I have a couple of buddies leaving to go down to Falcon tomorrow. Then I find out my friend Cory and his wife are headed down tomorrow. Is there something going on at Falcon that the rest of us need to know about? I would only have two bits of advice. The lake is surely quite a bit different now that it has been recently.... I'd get a guide at least for day 1, but that's just me. And the migas at Stripes..... load up. Breakfast tacos and lunch tacos until you have migas coming out of..... Well, you get the idea. I do remember something about Billy whacking some DDs recently so maybe Falcon is headed back to her former glory. Best of luck! Shhhhhh.... The brush on Falcon and Amistad grew in really good while the lakes were really low. Now that Amistad is up 40 feet from it's low and Falcon is up 30 feet from it's low things are heating up. Keep your fingers crossed for some good spring rains to keep the lakes full and the fishing will continue to get better and better 👍

Haven't seen a report from James in over a week. Something tells me he is busy catching them. Would be a great place to be right now. And yes, Laredo Taco Company at Stripes has the best gas station taco anywhere.

Gotta try Tina's for tacos in the morning. And a chicken fried steak from El Paraiso. As far as fishing I think your best bet is get on secondary points with a creek channel next to it. Look for the wood on the point. Also I'd get shallow just to see if the big girls are back there yet. The weather should be pushing them back soon

Been here for almost two weeks. Just two more days then off to T-Bend.
In the backs of the pockets there are tons of small fish with an occasional fish over 3lbs. Flipping in the heart of the bush has been best for us. Every once in a while we get bit on a moving bait. Scott did catch a 7 in 1 1/2 feet of water, but that is the only good fish shallow we have caught. Have caught a lot of nice 3-6lb fish on Carolina rigs out off secondary points and main lake points. Hard bottom helps. Doesn't have to be the big rock either. Have caught some out in 25-30 feet of water on rigs off humps also. That is where all but that one of our good fish have came. More numbers are shallow, except Chuck and I did have one 50 fish day out deep. We are going back out deep again today, looking for better quality.

Forget about stripes. Why anyone would choose a gas station taco is beyond me... Stop at Tina's in the morning and get taco's. It's the way to go.

That's where we always stay. Wood bunks, concrete, bbq pit, and a/c unit. Make sure you take a couple of air mats.

Forget about stripes. Why anyone would choose a gas station taco is beyond me... Stop at Tina's in the morning and get taco's. It's the way to go. Because the gas station taco stand is better than Tina's. & if you like any chicken fried steak in Zapata then you would eat anything if you think Tina's is good then you have a very low expectation for food and the $$$$ you spend for it.

Warmest I saw today was 72. Crazy how fast it warmed since you left Chet. It has been hot down here and suppose to be all weekend.

Personally I think El Rincon's chicken fried steak is better than El Paraiso. I haven't been down in a few weeks but I saw up to 63 last time I was there

And if you think a gas station taco is better than good authentic Mexican food then your expectations must be rock bottom. Seriously, I like Laredo Taco at stripes but Tina's is hands down better. Also there are a ton of really good authentic Mexican food restaurants in Zapata. If you don't like Mexican food then I guess you just need to eat at stripes....
If you ain't first you're last.
