I understand completley, but would hate for it to run out before getting to utilize it.

My update's been a frustrating experience, to say the least. I bought the Navionics Updates chip to update data from my HotMaps Premium chip from several years ago. I saw a TV show where the host had a Navionics chip that had a bunch of house foundations on Lake Falcon, so I was told at BPS to buy the Updates chip for $100 rather than spend the $190 or so on the new chip.
I just sent a big long email to Navionics with pictures of my "updated" map, but my frustration comes down to the following:
1) The house foundations from the TV show aren't on the updated chip. During the update, out of the Nautical Charts, Sonar Charts, and Community Edits, I could only update 2 out of the 3 because I had a Humminbird. However, since the TV show host also had a Humminbird, it's unlikely that this is the cause of the missing data.
2) The updated chip has less detail than my old chip. I looked at the same GPS coordinates on both chips to confirm this. Also, since the "updated" chip showed different data, that tells me that I did the update process correctly to get the "new" maps and detail.
3) One lake (how many more?) are flat out missing from the updated chip. The lake that's missing is Lake Placid here in TX. I thought this might be attributed to me not selecting a big enough area on the map to update during the update process, but close-by lakes McQueeney and Meadow are up the "updated" chip. I know that Navionics removed some things in recent years because they weren't accurate, but to flat out remove a whole lake? Sheesh...
We'll see what Navionics says, but it sure is frustrating to buy this $100 chip that I can't take back to BPS because the package is opened...

Pm Sent with Email address. I would like to take a look at it and compare to the Webapp to see if there are any discrepancies and fix your problem.

Just sent it your way.
I really do hope that this is my problem in something I messed up, I just don't see what it would be.

For what it's worth to anyone reading this, here are some small updates:
- Navionics support has said that the house foundation markings are from a LakeMaster card, overlaid on the Navionics map.
- I was wrong about Lake Placid being on my old card. I put the old card in and Placid's not on there, either; my bad.
- I was right, though, that less data is available for Lake Falcon on the Updates card as opposed to the old one. The old one is a HotMaps Premium from 2010 or newer.

Sorry it was not exactly what you were looking for Texasbassdude....I sent you another PM as well...Be sure to look at the Navionics Webapp, it is updated daily with all mapping available....look at it compared to what you see on your update card to be sure you are seeing the same data....if not, you may need to just turn the "fishnchip" layer on to access the sonar charts data....if you have any more questions feel free to shoot me a message or ask away on here and I will try to get any issues solved for you.

If I could jump in on this thread; I just recently got my Navionics+ for my humminbird Helix 7 & was unable to update or retrieve sonar charts because the quick installer would not do its thing on my macbook pro. Tech support says its because i need osx 10.7 or newer but my mac says i'm up to date with 10.6.8. What gives, what can I do?

I am not 100% sure on the software issues for the Macbook, so that would definately be something I would continue to follow up with the customer service dept at Navionics. If you think you do have the latest version, have you tired deleting the chart installer and reinstalling? Sometimes this helps.
