Falcon is only loaded during Basschamps these days. I believe there have been 3 10's caught in the last week. there are probably 2% of the boats on Falcon that are on Fork. Enjoy your trip with your son making memories, I've been fishing with my Dad in Florida this week and he went out of the way to tell a guy with 2 kids that he still remembers taking me out back then (I'm 42 now).

Falcon. Stay at Billy's place, get tips from James at FLT, hit Tina's for breakfast tacos before launch, take your own steak for the evenings and good luck. He will catch a lot of fish and you always have a chance at a monster there.

Falcon is always fun, and I'm thinking about making a trip soon.....but looks like you live in Conroe. If you want to catch fish, you should seriously consider FAYETTE! Doubt you'll catch anything over 9 pounds, but.........there are plenty of fish to be caught........Good luck wherever you go!

Was not sure if we would miss the spawn by going to Falcon at the end of March.
Looks like we are headed to Falcon, hope the little one catches a fish of a lifetime.
Thanks again for all of the suggestions.

Does anyone have any recommendation on where to/not to stay around Falcon? I've stayed at the Oso Blanco and Beacon. I will not ever stay at Beacon again

You can't go wrong with Falcon. Tlf sent you a pm about the availability for your trip.

Stay at Bassin Billy's place Great place to stay. Take a steak to grill for dinner,,,,,, very nice grill at Billy's place. for breakfast eat the tacos at the Stripes,,,,,,best in town. "ALL" restaurants in Zapata suck.

Huge misconception about Fork being a destination lake where bass are easily caught. I have a place on Fork and fish it almost weekly. Very tough lake to figure out in a short trip without a guide. Most guys that catch them on Fork fish it regularly. Of course there is the occasional weekender that stumbles into a pile of fish, but that is a rarity.
Don't be fooled by the Monday morning pictures from the weekend fisherman, they were likely 1/100 that did well, the other 99 struggled.
Personally, I would go to Toledo Bend, Rayburn, or Falcon before Fork. Take this from a guy that has a house, private ramp, and leaves his boat at Fork year round.
Also, the pressure is hard to describe, it's almost sad watching people in the Spring come from all over the state (and country) to fish Fork, literally driving past great fisheries so that they can get in line and chunk their spinnerbait behind the next boat.

Really great insight for the non-regular traveling a long way just based on what they read here.

Wouldn't want to be on fork for a weekend during spawning season, if it was during the week thats a different story.

There are reasons why that lake is so packed during the spawn.
