Hey guys I'm looking at getting a rod to throw a chatterbait on. I haven't thrown one a ton but want to have one rigged up in my arsenal. I've heard a couple different things about what rods to use but wanna find some recommendations on some yall use. Thanks for any help!

Fitzgerald 7'3 MH Stunner Series is my go to chatterbait rod. Light rod, good back bone. Hands down best rods i've thrown. You can find some at Lake Fork Resort.

I use the same rod I use to throw a spinnerbait most of the time...7' MH Falcon Lowrider.

I use the Megabass Orochi XX in the Diablo Spec R model. The Levante series rod in same model gets some time as well.

I prefer an Elite Rods ELT 7061m or the ELT 7054s. The 706 is perfect. Check em out.

From one Aggie to another: I have two setups for throwing bladed jigs. My go-to is a 7'3 MH glass Shimano Expride. It has a lot of tip action, which helps reduce the number of fish I lose. The Gamakatsu hooks in my bladed jigs slice through fish lips like butter, and I feel that the flex action in this rod allows the hook to penetrate without ripping a big hole in their mouth when they start jumping and tail-walking.

I like a shorter rod for throwing spinnerbait/chatterbait. I use a 6'6" MH rod. Again, pick the best rod you can afford. I think the shorter rod allows me to place the bait a little easier.

As you can see, lots of options. If throwing on braid you want something with more tip like a lipless crankbait rod. If throwing on say, 20lb fluorocarbon, you want a little more backbone. I like a 7'3 either way.

I bought a medium heavy falcon bucco this holiday season to try ou and have been throwing chatterbaits and catching fish on it all Jan. So far love it. Seems to be a lot more sensitive than the low rider with a chatterbait. Felt some real subtle bites. And the price was nice. Should also make a nice trap / crank rod since the tip is a little softer than my other MH.
