I have a buddy that hooked me up with a Power Tackle 7' MH Paragon Casting Rod. I have been using it with 17# Floro mainly as a chatterbait/spiner bait rod. I throw chatterbaits alot and have caught some of the biggest fish last year on this set up, my PB on a chatterbait using this rod is a little over 8#'s. This rod is expensive, and may seem a bit over kill to some people but I really love it and I am targeting bigger fish when throwing a chatterbait anyway, so I want something strong, sensitive, light...

I use a GLoomis SBR 813C. It's a Medium-Heavy 6'9" rod with an extra fast tip.

Let me ask an additional question. I know the rod is important but what type and weight line are you throwing it on. Mono? Fluro? 14lb? 20lb?

Bass pro is having a johnny morris carbonlite and bps pro qualifier combo for $99 during their spring classic. They have a 7' medium with moderate action. Would this be a good setup? If so would be a great deal.

Not ideal. You want MH and a fast or extra fast tip.

Not ideal. You want MH and a fast or extra fast tip. This...you need to still set the hook. As far as line is concerned 15-20lb flouro

I have the exact outfit that is on sale and I do not use it for any spinner bait. The rod action feels to me to be lighter than listed. A medium 7 ft. has a lot of parabolic bend. I use it for crank baits, but with a chatter bait or spinner bait I want to be able to pull a fish out of thick cover. I would use the MH though.

I like a 6'6" Loomis IMX MH. I use 15lb. Invisx. For 3/8-1/2 oz. 20lb. For the bigger 1oz. Baits.

Don't know if I would buy the best rod I could afford for a chatterbait, a worm, jig or dropshot rod maybe. I have bought several TFO rods at the last few Legend of Lake Fork tournaments for $50 and have caught lots of good fish on a 7'3" mh without loosing but maybe one or two and that probably wasn't the rods fault. I use a lews tournament pro 6.4:1 spoiled with 15# invizx.
