Much better than my 898 was.
I like the external gps of the 898 better than the internal I have on my Helix.

Does anyone know how to network the two or even if it is possible?

Might have to give David a call to find out.

Trying to figure out if the Helix 5 has a wider screen than my Elite-5 dsi. It looks bigger, but maybe not.

Jacob, I think you will like it. I would buy as good of one as you can. I liked mine until I went out with a buddy, and saw how much better his was. Then I had to upgrade.

I recently installed helix 9 si and its amazing all the stuff I had been driving over with down image and never found.if you do go with helix I recommend upgrading the transducer that comes with it.you can send it back to HB and $80 and they will swap it out for the hd transducer.

When I put SI on my kayak in 2009 my first trip disclosed, very much to my surprise, that my favorite crappie hole was actually a sunk 18' tri-hull. For a couple of years every trip to someplace I had not used SI in I discovered a lot more about the physical structure I was fishing. IT makes me look like a lot better fisherman than I really am.

Although I have upgraded units several times, I have found the 9" screen to be the balance of bang for the bucks for myself ( Bad eyes and limited real estate in a kayak ). I have a limited budget and have bought as new models were being released and found some real bargains in the older models ( all except for that first one when SI just came out. )

I bought a couple of small screen ones because of the real bargain price and only mounted one, for one trip and re-sold them. I simply could not see the detail with my eyes.

Your gonna love what ever you decide on.

Hey Kooby, I just upgraded to the same. Put my 898 on the bow and the Helix 9 on the consol. All you need is an adapter to link them. What don't you like about the Helix internal GPS?

Looks like all the other crappie guys are using birds. I'm a Lowrance guy and they've never let me down. I would shop for a used unit and save a ton of money.

I just bought my first SI graph, Helix 10. Had it out 1 time and the detail is great.
