might have just been an off day, or someone might have fished the spot earlier, there is no way the runs already dieing out, yea the water near the bridge gets over fished but its not gonna die on us

I wasn't fishing the Yegua. I'm still fishing some of the other creeks. I've hit Jardelle, Cedar and Birch the last couple of weeks. The BP was very high yesterday morning. So fishing was tough and an indicator setup would probably have helped.

I didn't even consider that the run is dying out. I just see the size of the deep holes shrinking and the fish seem to be moving in response to this.

Here's something I have done on my poles to have a quick and easy way to measure my fish. Hopefully some of you will do this as well and it will stop you from getting a fine for keeping under size fish. I put a ten inch mark on my fishing pole with some tape. Measure up the pole from the cork handle and put a ten inch mark with tape, easy to do and it will be an easy and quick way to measure your fish when you catch one as well. No more guessing the size and it will prevent you from having to pay a huge fine. The game warden doesn�t care if you know the law or not, they will still give you a ticket. It is every angler�s obligation to know the rules and regulations, so in the case, stupidity on your part will not win you over and you will still receive a fine for every fish you have that is illegal. So please people, put a reference mark on your pole. Not to many anglers are going to carry a measuring device with them, but having a reference mark on your pole is so easy to do when your at home with the proper tools to do it with. This mark will stay on your pole for the rest of the year. Electoral tape works great. I have seen people scribe a mark on their pole, but personally, I would not think of doing this to any of mine because it will cause some damage to the integrity of the pole, possible snapping it into under while under pressure.
The best tape I have found to use is what they call foil tape, or AC duct tape. It is very thin and the adhesive on this tape is extremely strong and the end never peals up. These tapes I�ve put on my rods have been on there for several years now. But electoral tape works just fine, anything for a reference mark. Finger nail polish works too. There are different things you can use, just be smart and put one on your pole.

A silver sharpie works wonders too.

The tape idea works. Have had tape on my poles for years. Have never been stopped by a game warden, until yesterday. Had one fish that was right at the line, sure enough he went to get his measureing tape. Low and behold the fish was 10 1/4 inches. Good to know my tape is just above 10 inches. As long as you play by the rules, game wardens are nothing to worry about. He/she are just out there doing their jobs, just like you and I do during the week.

On a side note, j-moe was spot on about the prsentation. Left the creek with 12 crappie and 1 white, in about 2 an a half hours of fishing yesterday afternoon.

I went out today in my two seat bass boat down the Yegua with my wife. One hell of a time getting in but finally made it in about 8 a.m. Started hitting some small ones until we got a little further in and then hit a few nice sized fully bellied whites. Broke a rod on some gigantic carp.... scared the hell out of my wife. Overall wasn't bad caught about 24 kept 9. I was told the Crappie hit well further up creek but ran out of battery on the boat before I could make it there. I plan on going back out next week Sunday hopefully its warmer than our 28F start today.

I had a buddy go Saturday and he ended up with 22. But I think there were three guys fishing.

Talked to a YouTube subscriber of mine back at the boat ramp that had kayaked up in the Yegua, met and fished with another guy and both of them ended up with limits of crappie.. Our time up in Nails creek was productive but only long enough to find a few quality fish..

Has anyone else noticed that Nails Creek has mostly white crappie and the Yegua has mostly black crappie? Not trying to start anything but the two do differ in where they like to live most of the year..

I have never gone up nails creek... can you access it with a bass buggy and trolling motor?

yes but the mouth of the creek is real shallow.. swing wide or drag over the embankment..
