I have never used sickle hook jig heads. It looks to me like it would be hard to thread a plastic onto the sharp bend in the hook. Ive always used conventional round bend hooks for that reason. I know sickle hooks are super sharp though. How hard is it to thread the plastic on the sickle hook?

Very easy to thread that hook, plus I put a dab of super glue to hold it on.
It's time to "Set The Hook"!!!!!!

I can't tell any difference between them when threading plastics on. I use the sickle jigheads a without a collar because it doesn't tear up the jig as quickly. I hope this helps.

Easy man. Without the keeper for sure, and with a dab of superglue - like Rook said.
Have fun!

Sickle hooks are GREAT! I feel like they have a better hook set ratio than the round hooks, but the guys that like to tip with minnows state that the minnow stays on the round hooks a lot better. Haven't noticed any issues concerning threading plastics on Hope this helps you

I bend out my sickle hooks just a tiny bit to open up the gap. Not a lot. Seems to help hookups for me with larger plastics.

As stated...no issues with plastics on sickle hooks, but yes minnows do seem to come off easier when hooked through the lips.

If you guys using the super glue will give the jigs with the wire keepers a try you will throw all your super glue in the trash. You don't have to worry about your plastic coming off ever. I bought a mold that uses the little wire keepers and now the guys that regularly fish the crappie house here won't use anything else.

Johnny Jigum poured us some of these a couple of years ago and they are the best of the best. Now I have a couple of buddies that pour them for me. The keepers are very cheap but, you have to have the special mold for them. And yep, I threw away all my super glue!

I got a few from the wire keeper jigs heads from Jigum also. When you have the color you want to use figured out, they are GREAT But if your changing colors a lot to figure out the bite, they tear up the baits.
