Good luck! I'm planning on headed out Thursday. Hopefully they will play ball. No rain in the forecast and it's supposed to be a little cooler the rest of the week.

I love reading y'all posts. I have never fished the Lake Somerville run but hope to some day. In the meantime I live vicariously and fish local spots. I get a little confused about all the place names and creeks and such. I am old school and like maps. Can somebody recommend a good map online (or place to buy) with all these creeks and places?

Thanks m1aggie! I might try and make it up there sometime this year, so the maps will come in handy. In regards to your earlier post, I agree that it is hard for 'weekend-warriors' to catch sand bass, especially on 'off-days.' I fish a lot during the year, but have only started trying for white bass the past couple of years and have only caught less than 5 total. But I have read others share the same and then say once they caught on they consistently catch them. Just my thoughts.

Went out today to chase some crappie. Got there around 10:30 and fished some of the smaller creeks. Slow at first with one here one there. Then found a hole that was loaded. In 45 minutes I pulled out 23 crappie and a few bass and perch. And only one of them was big enough. Moved to another creek and found a good hole and pulled out 11 crappie with only one keeper and some bass and perch. Moved again and only a few crappie spread out throughout the creek. Caught over 50 fish and only two keepers and no white bass. Maybe next time. Beautiful day to be on the creek and saw a big herd of hogs.

Wow, what a slow day. The bite didn't get going till after 4pm. Caught 19 whites. Bunch of crappie and perch. I'm gonna have to change something up, the water has become so clear that the fish would charge it and turn just before they took it. I marked a fish on my pole so I could measure it when I get home, but it was 17-1/2 to 18 inches. Here again, another huge white. Checked it's tounge again, one tooth patch in center. But that was my boot scoot and boogie fish. It was a great fight. Oh yeah, caught two under size whites today, I was shocked. Fun day though.

Does anyone know if big Creek Marina ever re-opened after the flood. I use to love to fish the crappie house. I know it floated off from the floods, but was just curious if anything has been done to it since the flood. Since I moved to Victoria 2 yrs. ago, I haven't had a chance to get back there.

I took a measurement of the mark I had on my pole of that fish, it was 17-1/2 inches. That's two that size this year. So I was close on my guess.

I know most of us get this idea in our head that the fish are no longer in the creek when we struggle to catch a few. Personally, I think it is still loaded. From about 5 to 7 pm, the bite goes crazy good. Where are they and why won't they bite during the daylight hours, I don't know, but they are in there. It is still early, the bite will only get better with time.

Doug, it was very nice to meet you again. Thanks for the fish. It was a beautiful day out there. I can not ask more. So after I left, you were having a party down there all by yourself? LOL
