We caught a lot of 3-8 pounders running jugs out of the kayak's last year on Lavon using chicken breast covered in garlic salt when we couldn't get shad.

chicken breast is all I use for blue cats, on both rod and reel and on jugs. I have caught countless blue cats, nice eaters and 20+lbers, biggest yet was 61 lbs on chicken breast. I have caught plenty of channels and yes even flatheads on it as well. I havnt bothered to try to net shad in years. I use it straight out of the package, cut in chunks to fit whatever size circle hook im using. no need to marinate it in anything! you can check out my facebook page for pics and videos of the cats I put my clients on! If there is a catfish in the pic, I caught it on chicken breast. https://www.facebook.com/RedWhiteAndBlueGuideService/?pnref=lhc

I just went bank fishing for blues for the first time on Lavon and I caught 3 blues the biggest was 38 inches on chicken breast. I'll be trying chicken breast again this evening.

I see others say no need to do anything other than use the chicken, but I would like to know what dead red is.

Thanks for the dead red info!
When I was a young boy, over 50 years ago, lol, my dad and I used Ivory soap on a trotline. Weird! But I like not having to catch live bait. Time, time, time... that's an issue.

I buy chicken on my way too the lake.. Open package, cut a piece up, and toss it out on a drifting rig.. It's my go to every trip.. It catches any size fish.. No need to prepare it or soak it.. I use 4 rods to drift with. I put 2 out with cut perch, and 2 out with chicken.. Chicken caught more fish by far..

I used chicken breast, boneless and skinless, for the first time last night. Been catching them on cut bait from bream/sunfish. I caught 15 blues, best night so far versus cut bait. I love it because I don't have to catch the bream, which takes time.
