asking as drag dosnt engage while your reeling it should've fine that stuff has amazing knot strength and really good resisting abrasion. The 8 pound ow what I use for tippet on the fly rod.

Just to add on to this. I researched this and Doug confirmed what I found out. The rod he is using is a Quantum Xtralite ultralight rod. It has a moderate action, instead of a fast acting tip. I have an ugly stik ultralight rod with a faster tip. It works OK, but doesn't have quite the same consistent distance and control that a moderate action ultralight rod provides. I'm still experimenting and plan on getting another rod with moderate action.

Are you saying I should loosen the drag on my reel? I didn't understand your response.

Floro carbon line sinks to fast, stay with the mono. Just do the stuff I was telling you about to get the memory and twist out, it works great. All the stuff these baits hit and tangle up in while fishing this creek, or walking the creek will destroy floro carbon line. Floor carbon line is great for open water areas, but sucks on the creek. I know because I�ve used it before.

I was back at the low water crossing in the wma last week. The flow through those pipes is pretty strong and turbulent. Does anybody know if the fish make it upstream of that obstruction without a flood or is that area a waste of time?

I fished the WMA Friday morning. Not much doing. Couple of black bass and small crappie. Everything has changed since the floods and most of my favorite spots are gone but one was holding fish. Probably will try again later this week down stream or over at Cedar.

From my experience, I don't think the fish go to much farther upstream from the Irwin bridge. Maybe another half mile at the most. On the north side, that's about as far I've been able to catch some, the farther I went, the lower in numbers and the smaller the fish were that I caught. So, I back tracked till I got back on some good fish. I have seen some decent fish on the low water crossing caught, I've never caught any. I'm sure they can swim through the pipes and I'm sure some do. I've never fished above the low water crossing to know for sure though.
