I would use a MH for shaky heads. I personally like a M-ML for my drop shots.

I use braid and a mono leader for drop shot or skipping under docks. Over the years I've fished with guys that only use spinning rods.

I use mine for drop shot and shaky head Have a rod for each You use the same medium heavy 6'6" rod for both? I use a fixed spool rod and reel .....don't get me wrong on my above post. Just wouldn't have a 6'6" medium heavy for anything. Well. Maybe for a loaner rod for friends. Haha. I use a Shimano Expride 7' medium fast for shakey head and I use Diawa SVF AGS medium light x-fast for drop shot. It's also 7'.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

All of the finesse mentioned above. For those, there is rarely a need to use more than 10 lbs. braid with either a 6 or an 8 lbs. fluorocarbon leader. To do so just means you are giving away one of the great advantages of spinning tackle in the first place.
But, others I didn't see listed would include: spy baits, weightless worms/ small swim baits/ light top waters/ inline spinner baits.
And, just speaking of fishing conditions, if the wind is beating you to death with bait casting equipment, pulling out the spinning tackle works best.
What not to use them for? Not that they aren't strong enough but most prefer bait casters for the really heavy stuff; that, and any fishing technique where you are going to make frequent and rapid casts. Although some of us who use and prefer spinning tackle over bait casters are pretty fast and nimble, I think the other side would get in 10 casts to our 7 or 8 in the same time.
