Went with two friends today in a little go-devil boat up to Newman's Bottom. We could not find a White Bass bite to save our lives. I don't know what happened or where the fish went, but we did not catch a single White.

We did however, end up with a really nice mess of Crappie. food

Very easy. It was not an issue at all.

I feel a sick day from work coming this week. sniffle, sniffle. Well, i better not jinx myself. I'll just ask for a day and see what happens.

My neighbor "Royce" has done pretty good there the past few times he went last week. He can find and catch the fish like "Fishytx". When he and Fishytx are on them, i know it's time to go. I don't like the hiking part though. I'll have to take some pain meds to get down there. getting old is for the birds.

Keep the fishing reports coming. I'm getting the fishing fever.

tight lines!

TIP: Act like a grub falling from the eroding bank into the flowing current aka changing conditions. The fish you are fishing for are called Sand Bass or White Bass. Look for a sandy part of the creek where there is a decent amount of water flow, brush piles close to a bend in the creek, or a deep hole close to a brush pile.
Murky water = dark color jigs
Clear water = bright color jigs

Good luck

I've got one that's about halfway in between us that it is unbelievably good very clear water lots of room to cast and for Fish this year. If you know fishytx bring him along bring Hookline while you're at it if we can do it because there's room for everybody.

Sounds good I should have some time in early February. Will be in touch.

Found one hole the size of a vw bug where we caught around 100 crappie most around 9 1/2" long. Of the min. length was 9 inches we would have had 75 keepers. We caught 15 keeper crappie and 7 keeper white bass. Great day for my daughters first trip to the Yegua.

Catchnrelease, I sure would like to get Royce's phone number if at all possible. I don't have much on this guy, he is a fish catching machine. And he still has a few good tricks up his sleve that he probably wont share. I like fishing with this guy, he has some awesome stories to tell, they aren't those fish tales either.

To day was one of those days where you look back and say, man, I should have stayed home. I had some fishing reel issues, well, not the reel, but line tangles under my reel spool.
The bite did not turn on till about 5:30. But when it did, it was ok. I ended the day with just eight fish and
J-Moe caught six. He caught them all on the small jig and I think he is beginning to like this set up as he gets use to it all. Every time we go out, he learns a few extra things and he now knows what he has to do to get bit with them. In due time, he will be hauling in bunch of fish on every trip. Fishing with these small jigs is just like everything else, practice and more practice.
But back to the fishing trip, these guys had a bad case of lock jaw today. Man it was slow and tuff.
I brought home nine, but thats not saying much for the walking distance and time put in.
