There's still a chew going on. I arrived around 2pm (warmer weather) and the bite was dead, just a crappie here and there. Around 4pm I found a bite. After I threw 4 whites back in I decided to start keeping them. Think I have 18 whites outside ready to be cleaned. !7 or 18, not real sure about the exact number. But I'll know here in a minute. That first crappie I caught saved the day; because I thought I was in for a skunk. I was so happy with that catch; I even kissed that little fella before I released it. Crappie lips are nasty, not near as sweet as those black bass. Time to go clean some fish. I�ll chime back in with the correct number on the stringer. Might even grab a snap shot.

Do you tandem rig or just single? Mind sharing few insight into that set-up?

Fishtx is the master. I follow him around like a small child asking constant questions. It's not only his technique and presentation, it's how he reads the water. What I've learned from him over the last 2 years also significantly improved my fly fishing skills. The same principles of lightweight lures apply.

I fished yesterday, tried all my normal spots, and caught very few. Many people were getting skunked and left early. Most people catching fish were walking all the way down to Newman's.

Then Fishtx and I fished all the same spots again and didn't catch a single white bass. The difference is that he started looking for new locations. He showed me several spots that I would have walked right past. I was beat and walked back up to the bridge around 4. I can tell you the bite didn't really turn on. He just found a spot that everyone else walked by and used a presentation that entices lethargic fish into biting. I've seen him do it multiple times.

Warning, don't attempt this technique without a good ultra light rod, it's far to frustrating, LOL!!!

I prefer to use one jig. Presentation is what it's all about. You have to present something to them that they will bite and it has to be presented correctly. If not, then they won't touch it. Basically I've taken a bait a fly rod angler would use and I'm throwing it on an ultra light spinning reel and presenting it to the fish in same way a fly fisherman would. That's the best way I can describe it. Fly rod anglers drift their bait into a strike zone when fishing current, same thing I try do with these small jigs. Very simular tactics. As the water level drops, the current will change on how it flows through a hole, which will also change the areas where the fish will stage while feeding. So every day these so called hot spots that one is on will change. There are a few areas on the creek where it seems to stay the same all the time, but not very many. It's almost like every day is a new day on this creek. You have to arrive with the mind set of, (let the search and seek games begin.)

Here's something I do that I would call the poor man's food saver vacuum system. After I have put my fillets in a bag, I will fill the bag with water. Bounce it around a little to get all the air bubbles out of the fillets, remove air and seal it. Place it upon the side of the sink, put the seal part of the bag downward in the sink and open one corner to drain water. As it drains, it will cause a syphon vacuum on the fillets with little to no water left in the bag, or any air bubbles. I seal it tight and now I have a vacuumed bag of fillets. No freezer burn and they last much longer.

Who's going today? I'm thinking about going here in a little bit. I really enjoy this type of fishing, might even take a head light and fish in the moon light. Always have done well fishing under a full moon.

Fishy didn't mean anything like that lol. Heck for most fly fisherman there are a lot of places they would not even attempt to fish takes a lot of knowledge and techniques to get into some places with a flyrod. So no offense was taken I just worded weird. Jamie for sure on that we'll figure out something. I've got one that's about halfway in between us that it is unbelievably good very clear water lots of room to cast and for Fish this year.
