Can anyone tell me if a Elite HDI 5 will support a Spot-Lite scan Sonar No, it will not.

I have a HDS 7 Gen 3. My temp reading is overlayed on the screen but I am just getting -- dashes on the screen. The side and down scan are working. And it works when I hook up my gen 2. any ideas what's going wrong here?

Mind you I'm just popping this off the top of my head: Have you checked that you have a valid device selected in the Gen 3 unit? In other words, look at the selection for temperature source on the G2 unit and make sure the G3 unit has the same source selected.

Anyone know if there is anywhere you can still buy a new LGC-4000 antenna, I have a LGC-3000 that I think has kicked the bucket, my unit sees it but it won't lock on to the satellites, have tried the soft and hard resets to no avail. What is the track record on lowrance repairing/replacing these?, sent a message to lowrance technical support but not getting any response.

Boss, You'd be better off with a Point 1 heading sensor/antenna.

Is it compatible with the old LMS units? You know, it might not be. Is your network nmea 2000 or 0183? The point 1 connects to the nmea 2000 networks.

I guess its NMEA 2000, this is the double T connection I have under the console, its not quite set up like the one in the picture though. The top buss ends are both capped, on the bottom two device ends one is connected to the antenna, and the other goes to the network socket on the lowrance. Is this set up right?, aren't you supposed to also have the buss connected to a power source for it to operate? My lowrance does see my antenna, under the device configuration menu the status is listed as OK, it just won't lock on to the satellites and I keep getting the flashing date and time on the satellites status page.

New Hds 7 Gen 3 will not read water temps. Any thoughts?

Did the unit come with a transducer that includes temperature (that is mounted externally? ...or are you hooking it to an existing transducer? In either case, you need to set the transducer model in the unit's settings. THEN, you need to set the source for getting the temperature.
1) refer to the silver sticker on the transducer cable near the connector for the HDS unit. 2) READ the manual - I believe what you asked about is covered in it, and I'm curious if you tried that at all?

While the Point-1 does connect to NMEA 2000, that alone doesn't determine compatibility. Remember that the Point-1 must be calibrated, for instance, and that calibration routine is offered in HDS Gen 2, but not HDS Gen 1. Yet, both HDS generations connect to NMEA 2000. So, it really boils down to: Is LMS compatible with Point-1. I'll bet my bottom dollar that NO is the answer. Remember, we're talking Lowrance here, the home of disposable electronics mentality. I think LMS updates stopped long before the Point-1 was introduced? If so, it would not have a clue what that device is.....or what to do with it.

Under the point-1 compatibility chart on the lowrance website "NMEA 2000 legacy units" is listed last, I wonder if this is referring to the older LMS and Eagle units.

Lowrance seems "programmed" to be cryptic/secretive it seems sometimes. I'm going to make some guesses about the topic, but keep in mind I am ONLY guessing because Lowrance just can't seem to be done with it and blurt out:
"While the Point-1 is a GPS antenna and is a NMEA 2000 device, the most valuable/useful features of this device are only accessible via HDS Gen 2 and later." (Valuable features = heading sensor and calibration.)
I would further guess that if the antenna worked with LMS, that's all it would be - a satellite antenna. Try calling Lowrance and let us know for our curiosity.

Boss, go with the 4000 for safety. Like Flippin mentioned, the best asset the point1 has is it's heading sensor and we know for sure that won't work on the older graph. Their site is too vague to spend the money on something that won't work when you already know that the 4000 will.
Sorry for getting you off course, I kinda forget Lowrance likes to make their changes every 2 years to a new product.
