If you are fishing for fun, just keep it simple. It's easy to spend a lot of time contemplating all of the latest, greatest tackle that's available. It's not necessary to stay on the cutting edge of technology to have great success.
As several have stated, 15# Big Game has been an all around, good quality line for many years.

I use this on spinnerbaits and crank baits. I go to 20# A Brazex for all else, except frogs.

15 lb trilene big game if limited to one line. Yes agree It's just cheap, easy to use and tie knots with, has stretch and forgiveness, and has been around a long time. Especially if you are just wanting to keep it simple, which I like as well.

I used to say 15lb big game too. But now it's 15lb P Line CXX for me. It's just way better line. And it's almost just as cheap.

Yeah staying cutting edge is fun but it can be expensive and tiring.

Sunline FC Sniper If I were limited to one line, I think it would have to be this in 14#. I use flourocarbon 90% of the time, with 12# being the one I use the most. But If I have to take in to account every technique, then 14# works out a little better. This line works for everything, I can even throw a topwater on this line in a pinch. It's 100% flourocarbon, super sensitive, and very abrasion resistant. Great line!
