Sorry for getting you off course, I kinda forget Lowrance likes to make their changes every 2 years to a new product.
I'm not sure if the 4000 isn't already a discontinued model, again I am going to have to call and confirm this, I can't seem to find it anywhere online to purchase although its still listed as an available antenna on lowrances website along with the point-1 http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/NMEA-2000/

Thanks for the insight. I got it working. By selecting the correct source.

Hey Guys. I am looking to upgrade my console electronics from an Elite 5 HDI to a HDS 7 or 9 Gen 2 touch. I expect to move the Elite to the bow for some time until I get a second HDS unit I can network. A few questions though if anyone has some knowledge on it, I would sure be grateful for the feedback.

1. Is there a functionality difference between the 7 and 9? (processing speed, response time, etc?)
2. Can I use the HDI transducer I already have mounted?
3. Will my power cord remain the same?
Both are blue connectors and appear they will transfer which would make for an easy install if all I needed then was the LSS transducer. Which brings on my next questions:

4. My understanding is the LSS 2 transducer plugs directly into the unit. So the module box is not needed?
5. Is there a benefit to having the module box at this point?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

Does a HDS Gen 2 unit (7-9-12) automatically have Structure Scan built in ???

I installed a Gen 2 HDS9 Touch on my boat and have the SS transducer.
Can I just replace the head unit with a Gen 2 HDS 12 Touch and have the SS screen work ???

All HDS 9 & 12 Touch models have StructureScan built in. I am not sure about any other size Touch model.

Generation doesn't matter - Touch 9 & 12 models have SS...."Touch" is the key part as no non-Touch has built in SS.

If you replace a Touch 9 with a Touch 12, just move the LSS-2 transducer cable from old to new display. You may have to do some menu settings to enable/select the LSS-2 transducer as I dont' recall what defaults are set out of the box.

I installed a LSS-2 StructureScanHD module on my boat to process my SS/DS info and then feed into my HDS-9T (Unit on console and LSS-2 Transducer at stern).
I was planning to install a second LSS-2 StructureScanHD module to process my SS/DS info and then feed into my HDS-7T (Unit on bow and LSS-2 Transducer on TM).
BPS wants an arm/leg for the second unit so wanted to see if I could share the module by plugging in the appropriate transducer for scanning (Console unit) or for fishing a brush pile (Bow unit) but I have a couple of questions;

1. Planning on putting a switch (on/off) right at the box. Will turning it on/off/on/off/on/off to switch Xducers possibly damage the LSS-2 StructureScanHD unit?
2. I already have an Ethernet cable (‘A’) going from the HDS-9T to the HDS-7T (to share waypoints). Will there be any issues with the other Ethernet cable (‘B’) going to the HDS-7T and same thing with the Ethernet cable (‘C’) going to the HDS-9T? I would like to keep from having to keep connecting/dis-connecting the two Ethernet cables.
3. Anyone have an extra LSS-2 StructureScanHD module laying around that they want to sell for a reasonable price so I don’t have to keep swapping transducers? (PM me)

And yes, I am well aware that the HDS-7T and HDS-9T can process the SS/DS on their own but I’m doing this to get XX% better images.

This is how I presently have everything hooked-up.

Blue, don't be so concerned about running the bow LSS ducer through a LSS module. You're putting it on the trolling motor, it's not the place to be concerned about getting great images from. With it's vibrations, shaking and turning you will only get decent/marginal images, so just stick the lss2 into the graph and don't play the crazy game that you are contemplating.

Yep but more importantly, there is no extra Ethernet port on the HDS7- Touch so I gave up that dream

If both transducers are run to the LSS module, then you will just need to run an ethernet to your HDS 7 and choose the transducer on the trolling motor. The ethernets connected to the LSS also enable you to share waypoints as long as both graphs are connected and powered on. Don't give up on your dreams!!!

Hi Guys, I have a HDS8 Gen 2 and LSS2 structure scan. yesterday I busted off the 83/200 sonar skimmer and it cut and exposed the wiring. so needless to say I lost my sonar but I also lost my structure scan in a weird way. The HDS acknowledges the system is there but there is no pinging occurring. The Lss2 transducer looks fine as its on the other side of the boat. I was just curious if I could have popped a fuse located inside the Lss2? All my other external fuses are fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

JT, no fuses in the LSS module that I've ever heard of, just the external one.

Your 2d has nothing to do with the LSS system. So did the SI/DI just quit working or what exactly?

I have a HDS 9 with SS and I'm get lag when scanning down and side. I don't have the 2D ducer hooked up to the unit could that be the issue?
