 Helix 9 vs Lowrance HDS

I'm wanting to upgrade my electronics this spring and currently I just have a lowrance hds 5 and I had planned on buying a hds 7 gen 2 for the dash and moving the 5 to the bow but I recently started looking at the Helix series and I think I have talked myself out of the lowrance the only thing holding me up is if I get a helix 9 for the dash and a 7 for the bow they won't network and share way points etc etc but to be honest I am new at this and I'm not sure how much I need that feature anyways, does anyone have some words of wisdom

I face the decision as well, and my choices are this: 1. Buy a 9 for the bow as well and network them, OR buy the wireless remote for the unit at the wheel and when you you need to mark a waypoint, you just hit "mark" on your wireless remote and save it to the unit at the wheel. That fits with my fishing style as I graph off-shore structure and will go over it, throw a buoy and and fish the spot, so networking and sharing waypoints technically becomes unnecessary, and more of a convenience. Make sense?

You want them to network!! I would add two hummingbird helix 9. di/si gps on the console with gps/sonar on the bow. I am not as familiar with hummingbird as I am with Lowrance.

I would have two Helix 9 SI GPS units with one transducer on the transom and the other on the trolling motor. That way the sonar data you are viewing will come from where you are on the boat.
Exchange the included transducers for the HDSI so you get sharper images.
Connect them with Ethernet and you can share GPS data, sonar data, and accesories.
You could go with Andrew's suggestion and could view the console Side Imaging data at the bow with a 2D or DI model since those will share sonar technology if you want to save some cost.
I prefer sonar data to originate from my location, not a boat length away.
