This video on youtube looks pretty good, but it's a Simrad Unit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC5CxnHm4BQ

Are Simrad and Lowrance using the same technology?

I watched a few videos that I could find on youtube with the Lowrance 3D, but this Simrad demo looks a bit better (Same technology on two different units??).

Interesting for sure. If I win the lottery, I'm gonna have two 12s at the console and two 12s at the bow.

played with the new 3d for about 2hrs today first i will say the down and side scan is a huge improvement over the lss2 you can see the levees on the bamboo brush pile and i will show some pics. and on the video i was scanning 600 feet 300 feet each way and it shows picture all the way across i only played with the 3d part for 15 min so i will wait on that report [Linked Image]

Nice. If you can make out the leaves, I'm sure it will be easy to see bait fish as well as fish. How clean is the pic when you are at 600ft on the side Imaging? What palette are you using?

The DI is definitely better than what the lss2 provided, at least 1 fish in that pic.

You know Gen 4 or 5 will have the 3d built into the unit without requiring the Module, just like they did customers with the LSS box. Buying a HDS12 Gen 3 is real real tempting on this cold day, but I'll be intelligent and wait it out.

if you have a company and dont keep up with technology you want last long .and why wait for the 4 or 5 you know that 6 and 7 will be better and so on if you can afford it enjoy it there is no guarantee you will be here tomorrow at least thats the way i see it

I would imagine the Gen2 and 3 will be able to use the 3d module with the same effects.. But i would imagine it would be a few more updates down the line for the Gen2. The DS does have more clarity as you can see from the pic...

I just bought it and had a guy from Cabellas install it for me. Headed to Rayburn this weekend to try it out.
