When the whites arrive fish can be caught most anywhere you put in. It's been a long while since there has been enough water at CBSP to have a good run of whites but back in the day I preferred fishing from the ramp upstream to the rocks. That said I've had some big days downstream around the first set of falls.

I'm heading up tomorrow to check it out. I snap some picture and post. Wet a line and see if I can come up with anything.

Good luck marker! I'll be camping and yakking next weekend there, can't wait!
Hey Kdub, kayaks are all you need. Back in the day when there was water, the best fishing is right there at the park, upstream to the rocks and downstream to the first water fall, all good and easy kayaking. The best bet is simple trolling up and down that area with easy paddling in the yak. Can't wait, will be a great spawn!

Well, one little bluegill was all I landed, had two solid hits but failed to set the hook in time. I have made it a habit to fish the park every year since 2006. Minus the almost 3 years that I was in Honduras and Colorado 2012-2015. This is the highest I have seen the water. I had on chest waders and walked out as far as I could, I was still on the concrete of the boat ramp. The rocks upstream are all covered with water. Should be a good year.

Anyone that goes to Colorado bend state park...keep everyone posted on results because my brother tells me that's a good spot for whites when the water is up. He told me people were pulling 50+ whites out of there in the good ol days.

Awesome! Will bring kayaks. I can't wait to go. It looks like a beautifull park too.

I'll be camping there next weekend and will give full report of three days of yak fishing. The worse that could happen is I'm camping and kayak fishing getting skunked while in the most scenic area of Central Texas. Would that really be that bad!

Lots of whites being caught up around Garrett and Highline. Looks like they are staging getting ready to move.

Trolled the area around the boat ramp in my canoe about three weeks ago and caught a couple of stripers and some white bass. Last Sunday did the same thing and caught 9 large female white bass all around 14-15" with the largest being 15.5" between the boat ramp and the first creek downstream. Hoping to go back tomorrow and catch some more with the favorable wind and cool temperatures.

Beautiful pics Green Heron. I have some friends with a farm right by the state park. We used to fish there all of the time years back. Im really hoping this will be the first year in awhile that there is good fishing out of the state park. Im fishing somewhere tomorrow, still undecided but the state park is an option!
