Fished Irwin Bridge from 7:30 to 9:30 AM. Water level had dropped 3 or 4 feet. Flow was back to normal as well. Visibility was still only about 3 inches at most. It only improved about 1/2 inch since Friday.

Instead of exploring this morning I stayed in one spot and worked on presentation. I finally got it locked in and ended up catching 14 white bass, 1 crappie and a 2.5 lb. LMB.

Nice catch! Looks like you have the presentation down.

I should have went this morning. I figured the high/muddy water along with recent cold temps would make fishing tough and didn't want to make the long trip there and back for nothing. Looks like you found a bite though.

On the bottom, and for the most part, very close to the bank.

I was fishing with 2 other guys. One caught a catfish and the other a white bass off a jig I gave him. That was it. And they fish there far more often than me. I didn't catch anything for the first 30 minutes until I got it figured out. Then they quizzed me for the next hour, LOL!!! Great morning. Now I have to break out the fly rod and try to find a place I can fish.

I'm sure you would have caught a stringer full if you had went.

If I didn't catch anything for 30 minutes I would have moved. Way to be patient and figure things out.

Nice catch. I stopped at Irwin yesterday from 1 to 3pm and fished for a while. Got skunked fishing at the bridge and downstream to the big horseshoe bend. First time there. The water looked a little fast and dirty still. I tried slow dragging white/chartreuse, red/white, and black/chartreuse jigs. Even tried adding a split shot to the line to get the jig deep. I saw 5 or so folks and 2 white bass caught. One guy even had crawfish and caught nothing.

I tried going upstream but it was very slick on the bank and I really couldn't find the beaten down path.

Those whitebass are there in the creek but most everyone fishing for them can't find where the fish are holding. I think the fish are easily spooked and difficult to pinpoint most of the time.

I guess I am looking for challenge on this one, but I want to see if I can figure out or find the right top water bait to catch these whites on. I think this would be an awesome way of catching these guys. I have a few ideas, but will save it till I get this thing figured out. I catch them on top water baits in the lake all the time, now to figure out what it will take to get them to hit this in the creek during the spawn. I might have to down size, but already have these baits, so we will see. Doesnt this sound like fun? It does to me, I live for a top water bite.

Good luck with that. Those fish really like to hug the bottom in the creeks.
