I was wondering if any of you crankers out there use braid throwing deep crank baits or cranking shallow either with a leader or no leader? If so, why do you like braid better than fluorocarbon or a co-polymer line?

All braid, no leaders. I fish a lot wood (Falcon) and others. I like my braid.

Same here. All braid, no leader. I strongly prefer braid for cranks.

if you want to groove your guides and only get 15 feet out of a DD22 then go for it. I'll stick with fluoro...

I agree with fishinfellow. Going to cost you depth unless your long lining. I fished with Matt Reed last year and I was throwing a swimbait with light braid and he told me that it was costing me bites. Doesn't mean you wont catch them with braid. I figured he knows a lot more about this fishing thing than me so when you have a pro give you a tip you might want to use it. If you want to give it a try I would suggest using a heavy core braid. TufLine makes one I use for flippin and punchin heavy stuff and has worked really well.

No braid for me when throwing cranks. IMO you get fewer bites. I like copolymer for CB's. I also use green line.....only color of line that cannot be detected by underwater photography.

I prefer flouro in most situations. Stained water or fishing heavily wooded areas I like braid as I would rather straighten a hook versus lose a handful of $6 to $12 dollar crankbaits.

Fluoro all day. Gets the crank deep and has good flex. Keeps from ripping the crank out.

So you guys that use braid just curious why you do that for cranking? I love braid but only for frogging and heavy cover pitching

I have used 20# braid and never had any issues.
Not noticed any etching or damage to my Crank rod and been doing it like that on that set up for years.
After reading some of the comments here I might rethink that and try floro... but why fix whats not broken?
