What a freak show of weird fish, and right down the street from me no less! Very cool. Very strange assortment.

Nice pics, glad you enjoy the fisheries at Northlakes, leave the waders at home and follow the rules the city has made. You could jeopardize all of our rights to fish there if another person gets stuck on the drains. I have been fishing there many years and feel we can all share the place on equal terms.

I dont fish for carp with waders on. I only had waders on for that Catfish because I was recovering lost disc golf discs at the time. People are out there literally every day wading in the that pond on the far bank for lost disc golf discs. The city does not care and see ther every day. The city maintenance man says hello and chats with the guys who wade for discs out there with wet suits or waders. Also they have changed the sign that used to read "no wading or swimming". Now it just says no swimming.

I only made it up there a few times last year, i have not seen the new signs on the middle pond, but the south pond must have changed. I worry some kids would have seen you noodling at the drain and get themselves in trouble. I would double check the city ordinances if I were you, park maintenance chatting with you will not stop a trespassing ticket from a cop having a bad day. I have argued the "no diving" before, i was just jumping grin

I loved that pond when it was full of pads, i guess the carp wiped em out.

That pond used to be amazing for Florida large mouth bass back when the lily's covered much of the pond. Your right the carp have totally wiped out the habitat for the bass. There are still a couple big bass left in pond but very few and rarely caught now. The north pond still has a decen population of bass. I really love catching and releasing the carp so I'm kinda glad it happened. 2 people died years ago out thete from capsizing canoe and getting tangled in the the dense thorny lily stems.
