I always been on the hunt for these rods for quite some time since Academy removed the Originals and replaced them with the China made All Stars. I went into the San Marcos Academy this afternoon and BOOM!!! I found an Original All Star Graphite Rod that was returned where they were made in Houston sitting right behind the newer All Stars. I'm sure online companies don't sell these anymore besides a Craigslist seller or if I'm lucky here on TFF. Can some one lead me into a direction or know someone who knows someone that might be selling one? Thanks TFF!

You might have luck looking on BBC or ebay.

I can't believe you found one in the store man. I haven't seen the old ones in a store in a few years.

It's kinda funny what you'll find, that just shows up, at Academy. Earlier this past year I ran across a Falcon Lowrider XG Lizard Dragger. It wouldn't scan in their system either. Bought it for $60. When's the last time you saw a Daiwa TD Popper topwater? Found one on the shelf, got it for $1.48. Weird!!!

I scour the Academy in Lewisville about once a week and I've literally NEVER found an unusual deal on a rod or lure.

Always looking myself. The WR1 & WR2 are two of my three all time favorite rods. The 3rd is the Castaway "East Texas Grass Rake". When I was at APT this past Sunday, Rick had a WR2 on the consignment rack. About a month ago, I found a WR2 on the half price rack at Southwest Parts.

I guess they'd be next to impossible to find. I own about 4 or 5 of them, had them since the late 80's and early 90's and I can tell you they are pretty much bullet proof. I have some original Falcon's as well from that era and they are just as tough.........

Here in central Texas academy clearanced all 3/0-5/0 heavy cover gamakatsu flipping hooks. I've bought at least a 100 packs for $0.98 and some for $0.48. They are still $7+ at basspro...

I buy a original for 19.99 All-star rod at Academy. Also buy 8 Boomerang tool (line cutter) for .98 cent, buy all of them. Sometimes you got to have a six sense, knowing what to scan, sometime you win and sometime you lose.
