Several yrs ago I did a little testing in some muddy water with baits. This water had visibility of about 4" with a orange/chart bait. When you catch fish from that dingy water, they are mostly pale white and lose a lot of their markings. Fish were biting well that day so I decided to match the color of the fish and shad with a solid white bait with white jig head. Couldn't believe how quick the crappie hammered that bait. Might have just been a day when they would hit anything, but that was surprising. So experiment with colors cause you never know what they may like on a given day.

Down here any jig with Chartreuse on it seems to work! hmmm Chartreuse/pink and chartreuse/black get the best results year around no matter what the water conditions are. hooked Just my two cents and the results I get. 2cents

Stay with the colors you like, when it rains and water is dirty the baitfish are still the same color.

They work here for me as well, the cheap ones...
