This weekend I installed the HDS7 GEN3 touch to my console and added the Motorguide Xi5 with sonar/gps and moved my Elite 7 to the bow for sonar only and GPS and I must say that I love how the 7 and the XI5 work well together. I marked some waypoints and loved how the anchor feature goes to the waypoint and keeps me right on top of what I marked. I am sold now on that combination and happy I went with the Xi5 instead of the Terrova its awesome.

Need some help!
Just installed a HDS 12T gen 2, LSS-2 box and connected it to a HDS 7T.
Question is; How do I get the over lay info on the screen, such as voltage?
The manual says go to the map screen and drag down from the top (restore cursor) to bring up the hidden system menu and edit from there. When I drag down the hidden system doesn't appear. Or go to the utilities menu, I can't find that anywhere. It has software version 4.5.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks Red
Update:
After watching a youtube video it showed dragging down a blue bar above the restore cursor tab. I don't have that blue bar. The restore cursor tab did high light blue when touched though. I'm still searching but right now I'm at a loss.

OK I found it. I guess the newer software versions put it in the menu box that pops up after a short tap of the power button.

I have an hds 10 gen 1. I recently broke and need to replace the structure scan transducer. Are the gen 1 transducers still available new in stores or will I have to find a used one? Will a transducer from a gen 2 or gen 3 work for my gen 1.

Okay Lowrance Gurus, Im getting mixed information as to if the Point-1 Antenna will work on my Gen 1 Units. The Point-1 FAQ and Troubleshooting Guide says, Will Point-1 work with my HDS Gen 1? The Point-q antenna/heading sensor is a standard NMEA2000 device. Therefore, it will connect to any NMEA2000 backbone and communicate with any NMEA device on that same network. The HDS Gen2 models, both keypad and touch, with software version 2.0 or higher will have GPS damping and filtering features, as well as the ability to initiate heading calibration from the HDS, that will not be present in any HDS Gen1.
I have read that it will work (for more than just another external antenna) if you manually compensate for magnetic variances or borrow a Gen2 unit when calibrating the Point-1 and it will remain calibrated after the Gen 2 unit is removed.
I really like how the Point-1 helps when fishing offshore, but I dont want to waste the money if it wont work on my system.
Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, Point-1 works with HDS Gen 1. I have a HDS 10 on the console and HDS 8 at the bow (both are Gen 1) connected via NMEA2000. The Point-1 is near the transom where the oil filler is on my Triton TRX186. The Point-1 vastly improves the update dating on the boat's course. In fact, I was so use to compensating for the lag that I would over steer after installation. Basically, all you get with the Gen-1 with Point-1 is faster update to 5 times per second from 1 time per second. For Gen 2 and later, it is 10 times faster than Gen-1 without Point-1.
Your comment on calibrating with a Gen 2/3 is interesting. I'm not quite sure how that works since the Gen-1 head has no built in compass like Gen 2 or 3. I would like to know more about that for better accuracy, although I am very happy with getting what I am from the Point-1. If you have a link where you read about the mag variance, etc., I'd appreciate getting it to read.

Another question from a newbi , I'm curious would a sonar be able to distinguish flounder laying on the bottom of a bay ? Anyone have any screen captures if so .

I have a Motorguide Xi5 and want to hook up a Lowrance HDS7-gen2 touch. Can someone tell me what I need to hook the two up and use the lowrance waypoints to tell the motorguide where to go? I know I'm going to need the Motorguide gateway kit but am not sure if I need NMEA kit or just NMEA-T. Any advice would be appreciated.

Alright I have looked it over and am going to install on my own...question, bottom of boat is pretty straight, how much lower do I have to install structure scan transducer that the sonar transducer to prevent obstruction? Completely new at this, all help is appreciated!

Shooter, it depends on how close you mount them. The manual says less than 16" for a worthless overlay feature. You can put them as close or far as you need them. Just make sure the LSS ducer is a tad lower than the sonar ducer, easy to do on most hulls. Avoid putting the ducers right behind a strake and make sure they won't get knocked off by rollers or bunk boards.
