Water Moccasin Boats are built in Stonewall LA about 10 miles south of Shreveport on HWY 171. They bought Yeager's Bobcat company about 10 years ago then sold Bobcat to a guy who lives south of Ruston LA. I had the first Bobcat built in 1978. Water Moccasin in a better built boat though. This boat, trailer and everything on it goes for less than $4000.00 new. The 60 acre lake I fish is our community lake in Providence Village, TX on HWY 380. It was designed by Bill Dance's Lake consulting operation. It is a fisherman's dream. They built a ridge about 200 yards long that is 12' on top of the ridge and falls off to 20-25 ft on both sides. They have a 300 yard long deep trench about 20 yards wide that is 35' deep and is a cast from the shore. There is a lot of coon tail moss and other grasses in certain areas next to the drops. They put large boulders in strategic places throughout the lake. They also put artificial tree tops (Crappie Condos PVC) in several areas also. To give you an idea, I went yesterday at noon fished until 4:00 caught 12 slabs and 9 bass on a cold high pressure day after the cold front came through. I did not have a fish finder or GPS. I do plan to get one though as the boulders are hard to zero in on and I'm sure there are some I have not found by feel yet. It is a catch and release lake for residents and guests. Managed by the TW&F dept. It has a nice boat launch. No outboards allowed. The best part is no one knows how to fish that lives out here. Most are bank fisherman. I have seen a handfull of fish caught over the past 3 years. Lucky me.

Nice rig. I grew up in Shreveport and have seen lots of folks fishing from pirouges. I never understood why they weren't more in TX.
And Jesus said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men. Mark 1:17 (NASB)

I grew up fishing and crawfishing the Atchafalaya Basin. I can tell you using a pirogue for any use is art and outdoorsman skill working together in action, at least for the type used in the Basin. I remember one cold evening returning to camp after duck hunting... never mind, it's a long story but the operative word is 'splash'.
