That's why I also have a Boca Grip scale as a backup to my digital scales!
Nice bunch of fish today! Well done! +1 Always have my Bogas and a Rapala digital in the boat.

I hate to burst your bubble but that picture at the top of your post isn't a smallmouth. It's 100% spotted bass. Really nice spotted bass though.
The only smallmouth you have in the pictures you posted in this thread is the last one, and in that group of pictures, the first fish pictured is a largemouth.
Just FYI... largemouth- jaw hinge extends well beyond eye, smallmouth- jaw hinge at front of eye, spotted bass- jaw hinge extends even with rear of eye.

Ray Roberts has a water color that lends itself to spotted bass looking almost identical to smallmouth and it gets real hard to tell. If you fish on a lake like Belton or Stillhouse its much easier to tell just based on coloration.
But the jaw hinge test is really the only sure fire way to tell.

You guys are entitled to you opinion but the fish pictures is a small mouth, I catch 20 spotted bass every trip and their color is much different on Ray roberts right now than the small mouth. This could be a mean mouth but that is highly doubtful with the size. I think I have caught enough smallmouth to know and the 3lb spots are very dark green on Ray roberts right now.

That one has nothing on size compared to the buffalo you caught that morning. I bet it was close to the lake record.
