Launch at a ramp close to where you want to go and figure out how to make them bite where you are.

Well right now fish are chasing shad this time of year. If you are worried about the wind you could fish super super shallow in the backs of creek and coves as far as you can go! Can cover shallow flats I throw chatter baits on windy banks points all around grass. There tons of fishing to do! On windy days

TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE
Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Yeah they keep increasing the wind speed for Wednesday, one of the rare occasions I get to fish in the middle of the week. So I'm really having to plan this one out to make sure it's a good trip.

My last adventure in the wind was absolutely terrifying. Im a leaf on the wind! 17ft aluminum bass boat? NOPE x2... Im curling up with some Guinness and Bushmills... There are way too many nice days to deal with that [censored] again!

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.

I have a 15 mph rule. If the wind forecast calls for winds over 15 mph on the lake I plan to fish, I either don't fish, or I just go to Lake Austin. I live right next to Lake Austin and for the most part, it is protected from wind and I've never seen it "too windy to fish" out there. It's good to have a back-up lake like that near by if you can think of one that is like that and stays mostly protected from the wind. Now, even with this rule, I find myself on the lake often times in wind greater than 15 mph (the weatherman is wrong a lot). In those scenarios, if it feels unsafe, obviously, I get off of the water. However, often times I fish on.

Fishing in the wind is just something I've learned to do. I have an 18 ft boat and an 80 lb thrust trolling motor, and I'm pretty good at maintaining position in some pretty stiff winds. When the wind is too much to handle with the trolling motor, I have a drift sock I keep in the boat. It slows the boat down enough for me to keep the boat pointed in the right direction and still fish.
