Hell. I don't own a $1000 suit! Much less a rain suit.

There was a rain suit query on this site a yearn or so ago. A guy made a comment that he used PVC when it was cold and raining. I tried it out at about 35 degrees and was warm and dry. I did get sweaty at about 55 deg though. The stuff is 100% waterproof. I have a Gore Tex suit for warmer weather. Can't get as much clothing under it.

Yes, I have two rain suits. My BPS Goretex I bought back in 2001 and I has been going strong every since. I also have one of the thick PVC ones from Bass Pro also, and that thing will shed water/wind like you would not believe. Like said. it is no good over 50 degrees though.

Thanks for the review.
I would have a Simms suit if I had the extra money. My fishing partner has one and they are the bomb. I will just stick with my pro qualifier rain suit, it gets the job done for now.
Why is it the TFF way to gang up in a mob mentality against others because someone bought something you either cannot afford or you are too cheap to purchase? It's like that on everything, boats, tackle, rods, reels, so on and so on.
So many of these people are total spares....

if it's a little rich for your blood, you could just keep your comments to yourself.
the guy is trying to help people out, and gets a page and a half of "my cheap rainsuit works just as good!"
no it doesn't

So many of these people are total spares.... I don't see anyone busting on the OP in a personal way or calling him names. If he can afford it, good for him. I have no problem with it at all, and I'm sure most here don't either. I watched the review. It's no doubt an incredibly well made article of clothing. I think some folks, me included, experience some degree of sticker shock regarding the price tag. No need to call anyone names, please. But for a chump like me who limps along on an average income, dropping $1500 on a rain suit doesn't make me cheap. It makes me practical. It would be an affront to my family to walk in the house one day and show them the rain suit that cost a week's take-home that's going to spend most of its life in a storage locker on my boat. I'd have to be in a whole different income bracket to consider $1500 "extra money."

I swallowed hard when I bought my Pro Qualifier suit for about $380 almost ten years ago. But, it's the best clothing investment I ever made.

no it doesn't Seriously? First Ammendment, sir! I still haven't read any negative comments toward the OP. Just people commenting on their lack of funds to be able to purchase the SIMMS rain gear we all wish we could have.

But every time someone posts about expensive things, the TFF mob gangs up and makes many comments about you don't need that, it's too much, so on and so on. I don't have a Simms suit and likely never will, but I'm never going to try and say someone is wasteful or foolish for buying the best of things. It's on every type of thread about high quality things. It's comical, I guess I'm truly grateful for the entertainment value of it all ...

The sweetness of a bargain soon fades. The bitterness of poor quality never does. Buy the very best you can afford.

They are expensive but hopefully it's the only suit I'll have to buy for years. If that's the case then it'll work itself out The lifetime guarantee is almost worth the price. I've had two "no questions asked" replacements on Goretex warranty from North Face and Patagonia.

A lot of things are worth the investment if you have the funds. If I were considering a Simms rainsuit, this would have been helpful. I wondered if they really were that good, and now I have an independent review from someone that likely fishes the same conditions that I do.
