I want to try throwing a jig next time out. Has anyone been catching em on jigs lately? If so what kind of colors have you been throwing? I'm skeptical because they are typically chasing baitfish rightnow but with the warmer weather still around I'm wondering if a jig will do some good. hmmm

I like the Passion Orange color. I've been doing really well this jig in clear water. The head design really helps it stand up and imitate a defensive craw. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

I only ever carry black/blue and green pumpkin. I try to keep it as simple as possible. They both catch fish year round. That being said, i've considered flipping a white jig for a shad pattern recently.

I like MPack, Santone, and Viper XP jigs. I have a lot of different colored jigs in the boat but I am a tackle nut and I make my own skirts so I experiment with different colors. To keep it simple..Black/blue or black/blue/purple, various shades of green pumpkin with an accent color of either purple or orange, and Peanut butter n jelly.

I am a big fan of santone finesse jigs as well. I think ill try green pumpkin for a while and then might consider switching to a shad colored spinnerbait depending on my success with the jig.

I throw a green pumpkin orange year round and catch fish. Like stated above keep it simple good luck and just know a jig bite can be addicting.

We did real good with a white Talon swim jig on Texoma a couple of weeks ago. You can get bit all year long on a jig if you fish them enough, trust me.

A jig is a good big fish bait but I have learned not to try and force feed them to the bass, at least at Fork that is. Sometimes they just do not want the jig so it is better to use something different, but when they are on a jig bite, you can have a blast, just make sure you have good line and a strong rod.

Been catching them in 2-6 fow, throwing black and blue jig with the same color craw trailer, under brush an
around flooded timber.
Years ago I only carried 2 rods and reels and 2 jigs w/trailers, made myself learn them,
and yes, now I fish them year round.
Exciting way to fish, yes indeed

I fish a jig year round with success because it's versatile. Swim it, drag it, hop it or just let it sit there on the bottom. However, this time of the year I'm throwing a spinnerbait or square bill the majority of the time and keep a jig tied on to cast into brush piles.

1/2 oz Jig with a zebra striped skirt and a paddle tail swimbait trailer like a skinny dipper or a swimming fluke, I usually thin out the skirt this time of year to make it look kinda skinny

Within the next month or so the newborn crawfish of the year will be coming out of their mudholes and developing their claws and shells. While they do this they will be a green pumpkin/ brownish orangish color. During this time the shell is softer than usual and claws under developed. This equates to protein packed crack for bass! for this reason I like to throw a 3/8oz mpack flipping jig in natural craw color with a berkely havoc pit boss in green pumpkin for the trailer. I like to trim the skirt even with the bottom curve of the hook and trim the pit boss to where the jig hook comes out right behind the apendages. This gives you a compact presentation in the right color to resemble these baby craws. I typically use this in October and November and move on to larger profile jigs in December.

Caught 4 nice ones on Ray Roberts using my custom jig. One with Black/Blue and one with Greens. Best one was a little over 5 lbs. and lost two big fish in heavy cover beside the largest hardwoods on a few point up the creeks.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
