Some have stated that if you go with Lowrance Gen 2 or 3 you have the added expense of extra transducers. I bought the complete package that had both transducers, but it's not as complete as Lowrance would have you believe. I had to get an LSS-2 box to get the same quality of images that I had with my Low 8 Gen 1 that came with an LSS-1 box. I've heard that Lowrance has discontinued manufacturing the LSS-2 box on their theory that it is not needed......Simply absurd
I also already had the external Point 1 GPS puck which is needed to get true, smooth tracking.....................

With all that said, I LOVE my Low 12 HDS Gen 2 touch, but I also used to have a HB 997 csi that gave beautiful images, but it would not pick up as much detail as my Low.

That's a FACT, that I proved twice on Lake Cypress Springs on a certain bp that I knew was there and couldn't find on my HB 997 or on someone else's 998, yet I found it with just 1 pass with my Lowrance.

I can't give any details on the newer products that HB has come out with
