The lake is almost 8 feet above normal now and they still haven't opened the dam yet. Looking like it may be closer to 40 days before the lake is back to normal. The crappie fishing may be ruined after all. But the white bass started moving into the creek in mid December last year so let's hope that the white bass run doesn't get flooded out for us.

When do you think they will begin releasing water? The Brazos is starting to settle down.

Lake level is 246. 8 ft above normal. Looks like they opened the gates close to wide open. Flow is 2109 cfs. At that rate the lake will recede at 1/4 foot per day. That would be 32 days to get back to normal, pending more rain either upstream or downstream of the reservoir.

The Brazos river is still high where it crosses hwy 290

When ever we get a good flood in December, the whites run up the creek by the boat loads. Hmmm, wonder if they ran up early this year. To muddy right now to check, but I bet they're up there. I've noticed a little egg bulge in some fish already.

I've caught them as early as December in Nails Creek, but I think the earliest I've caught them in Yegua Creek is January. Won't be long now, that's for sure.

If none of you have been to the lake/creek recently. Water is 8ft high in the main lake and backing up into the creek. I was able to run my boat up Yegua main branch from the main lake up almost a mile before I decided to turn back. There is water everywhere. If I didn't have GPS I would have lost the channel several times, everything looks the same out there.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

I checked my fishing log. I actually caught white bass in the Yegua on 12/5/14. Ben and Jess went on 12/6/14 and caught over 20 each.
