This guy is a perfect example of my opinion on TPWD knowing more than fisherman. Tom knows more about current conditions, health, and habits of lake Lewisville's blue cats than any tpwd employee.

Good scientists collect quality data for scientific analysis.
Guides without scientific training wouldn't have a clue where to start in study the health of a fishery...

CPR every catfish over 10lbs in every lake is a mythology NOT science.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

If you believe a lot of Texas lakes are having a regular "scientific analysis" done you're crazier than I thought and you have talked to your local biologist much. Because when I talk to them it's always the same response- not enough people, time, or money.

Lol, a little crazy about fishing that's my wife said about me roflmao
You know my view on Tpwd slot "experiments" and those who insist that slot is working... all I want to say is Lavon is kicking Lewisville buttock!

Considering Lewisville is native fish since it has never been stocked with blues, it's doing pretty well.

From what I understand our better guides are the main ones getting the word out to save our brood fish.
Fare as the slot goes it is working well on lake Waco. Ask anyone that has been fishing it the last two years.

Fyi, Most if not all TPWD blue catfish brood fish were caught wild from Lake Livingston, and that lake blue catfish record was only 71 lb caught back in 1986. I don't think native vs stocked catfish play any significant role.

Like to know more details on Missouri bred blues...

According to Tpwd own handbook Guidelines for the Culture
of Blue and Channel Catfish no 244, 2006, blue catfish brood were collected from the Trinity River below lake Livingston.

but fish fillet that people can actually eat counts. What I means is lakes like Lavon, Cedar Creek, Tawakoni allow people to harvest much larger quantity of blue catfish yet their blue catfish population are still more abundant than slotted lakes like lewisville or RC.

I do too, but there should be a wake up call at some point when a 25 fish blue catfish yield less fillet than 25 channel cats from other lakes...

If that's happening to you on Lewisville, you need to book a trip with somebody and learn to fish a little differently.
