Thank you for letting us enter you world for a few moments, best of luck. It sounds like the fish were a little ahead of the pattern. Confusing fishing this year for sure.

Clark as bad as I hate to say it you may have been guilty of something that burned me a lot in my tourney days and that was over thinking the water I was on. My best successes actually came on lakes that I didn't even practice on. I pulled out a TOPO map and looked for spots that should be holding fish for the current conditions the week before; marked those, and let that 6th sense I'd developed from time on the water do its thing and most of the time it worked. My worst finishes were lakes I really prepared for and the only exception being lakes or rivers I had a long history with..........I just fished club, lower level pro and team tourneys but it was still tough because there were a lot of guys at those levels quiet capable of fishing @ the BASS and FLW levels, the only thing holding them back was lack of $$$$$$$........

Awesome report. Thanks for sharing.
Best of luck to you, your family, and your business in the future. And maybe if this dang oilfield will settle down a bit I can make one of those "catching" trips soon.
Take care.

Fished that lake for many years and sunk a lot of BP's myself in the same areas. One thing I found out is like you the fish never came to new stuff for a long time. Back then for some reason it took at least six months for them to move in. Thanks for sharing such a frustrating event and best of luck in the future.

Thank you for a great read, better than anything that I read in this months Bassmaster or BassTimes!!. Interesting about you guys sinking piles. I have a small spot near me that i put some in, and I am almost sure the beavers ate them!! ( Bamboo too) But with the water level going down due to lack of rain, I saw the top of one that I built out of cinder block and stripped conduit...and sure enough caught a 4lb right off it.
We read every other week people asking how much it costs to be a pro. I think the other things that go along with it are the real cost. Time, effort, commitment. As I get older the first one is the most valuable, time. You guys put that in for sure, but even that is still not enough when fishing against the best.
Watch it happen, make it happen, or say what the hell happened. Capt. Phil Harris F/V Cornelia Marie RIP
