Has anyone wondered why, in all of the history of country music, there are only a small handful of songs specifically about bass fishing? Only three that I can think of - Casey Ashley: Fisherman, Robert Earl Keen: 5 lb. Bass, Brad Paisley: Catch All the Fish, Drink All the Beer (and honorable mention to Goin' Fishin' by Mr. Paisley because although it doesn't mention trolling motors, squarebills, or bass, it does illustrate how addictive fishing is in general in a humorous way). Casey Ashley's song comes the closest IMO to being a bass fishing anthem, but it's very specifically about life on the tournament trail. I still think it's great and like to crank it up and shout along with it on the way to the lake. By-the-way, I'm not talking about songs about sittin' on the bank with a can 'o worms and a cane pole. Or songs that seem to be about fishing but are about something else altogether. I'm talking about songs that have lyrics that capture the spirit and essence of bass fishing in particular and reference aspects of bassin' that lunker chasers can relate to. Ironically, one rapper has the whole country music industry beat at writing songs about our favorite green fish. There's a hip-hop guy who wrote a whole album dedicated to bass fishing: Mike Morazzini. I'm not a huge rap music fan, but I did listen to some of it, like Going Ike, Lips on My Thumb, The Fight, and Bomb 'Em (with the hookset). The lyrics are entertaining.
There's got to be one songwriter in Nashville who is also a fish-head and is sitting on the bass fishing national anthem...

I heard a new one the other day. "Money can't buy everything but it can buy me a boat".
Not the anthem you are looking for but is entertaining. Hit home cause of the out flow of money towards fishing and if I had all the money in the world I would buy a new bass boat first.
5lb Bass gets me fired up every time! I've gotta check out Mike Morazzini.

Not the bonafide BASS FISHING NATIONAL ANTHEM, but I love the attitude of the song. And +1 for the Yeti cooler reference, which is one more thing Santa hasn't brought me yet.

Google "bass tournament song" Now we're talking! I haven't ever heard this one. Great bass fishing song! We need more like this! Cute, but yet another parody of that cruddy pop song. Weapons of bass destruction by Rhett Akins Booyah! Another great one! I knew there had to be a few out there.

King of the honey hole is a good one Not bad! It's funny there's still more hip-hop (or hick-hop) songs about bass fishing than country songs. Only because bass fishing is such a popular activity that has its roots in the American south, you would think country music would have covered the topic six ways to Sunday.
