I like to crappie fish. I like to talk about, and read about crappie fishing. I have crappie fished for a long time. But, joining here makes me realize how much room there is for improvement. Some of y'all are consistently on the fish, and that's impressive.

Plus,, I like joking around a little bit, so I spend a bunch of time in the OT with the rest of the clowns.

The TFF is a really cool place, and I have met some really good folks on here. Plus, I have spent a lot of money on stuff that I found out that I "needed".

I am not promoting anything. I just like to fish.

I enjoy reading others posts, pictures and advice. I live in the Austin area so not many of my local lakes are featured here but would like to give Fork and Tawakoni a go around if able.
I also post my reports good or bad and try to chime in with advice when needed to stay away from lurker status!

I have Crappie Fever and don't know what else to do.. Just hoping someone has a cure for this stuff. I'm still a rookie and one day may be able to help someone with the experience I may gain.

Learn what I can - give what I can - add a little levity once in awhile - and enjoy the banter. Some of the biggest laughs I've enjoyed were when DW, T-Dub, and Stucky used to go back and forth at each other. And there's others with a great sense of humor.

This section is full of truly great upstanding people who can control their keyboard. If a lot of BS and bickering existed, I wouldn't be here. Too many folks get carried away behind keyboards and say things they would never utter face to face. That type stuff is held to a minimum here and people can disagree without starting keyboard fights.

My answers have evolved over the years. I've been on here longer than most (since 2002), and in that time my crappie fishing skills have improved dramatically. Partly due to this forum.
Main reason then and now...KNOWLEDGE! I'm always looking to learn something new (patterns, techniques, equipment, etc.), and this is one of the best places to find it.
I really have enjoyed meeting lots of great people and great crappie fishermen. You'll learn just as much or more from fishing with new friends. Many of those friends I would have never had the pleasure of meeting otherwise.
Now that I have better knowledge, I try to pass it on. I try to always hold my tongue, unless I'm truly confident in the info I'm giving. I see a lot of guys that are "where I was then" in regards to their fishing knowledge. So I feel like I can help them along. In fact, I enjoy passing on something good I've learned more than getting something new myself.
Of course I love to pick up holes and spots to fish, but that's pretty rare and not something I seek out.
I've also picked up some great deals on the classifieds, but that seems to be a lot harder these days.

In my first few years on here I probably took more than I gave. I like to think that in recent years the reverse has occurred. Seems to me that's the way it should work. thumb

I'm here because I'm not able to fish as often as I would like (bank fishing only), so I like to read the reports on where/what the fish are biting. So when I do get that opportunity to go, I'm well prepared. I also like reading the Trade Post, Boats for Sale, I even browse the Bluegill, Catfish sections, but I'm mostly in the crappie section to sharpen my skills.

My brother and I had a chance to go fishing back a month or so ago, and I put a whopping on him by using the jigs I had purchased from Lane (Constant Pursuit Outfitters). If it had not been for this forum, I wouldn't have known anything about these jigs.

I also met a guy while we were bank fishing, and he had been there a while. He had caught a few crappie and sandies. I show up and I'm using Lane's "White Hot" w/Pink Head, and I start killing them. He looks over and ask what color am I using and I tell him and he end up leaving. Well I didn't know he was leaving to go and try to find the particular jig until saw him the next day. He says to me, "you know I've gone everywhere looking for that jig you're using and I cant find it anywhere". And I told him that you cant find it in any stores. I told him where he could order them and then I reached into my bag and gave him a sampling of every jig that I had ordered from Lane. So not only am I here for information but I try to share what I learn from all of you guys...

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

When my sons get really angry at each other they start calling each other Sooners. That's the worst thing they can think of to call each other! They are trained well.

I like being here, as I read how other crappie fisherman are doing. There is really not much posted for areas west of Mineral Wells, but all the lakes in the Dallas area are pretty close. I have been fishing fairly frequently the last few weeks, and so far crappie are very elusive over here. I am gonna try again tomorrow in Graham. So far that tree frog jig by Thump Jumpers from Constant Pursuit is pretty much my go to jig. I try tubes filled with pressed crappie baits (pink, green etc.) no luck with them so far this summer. And no luck with the minnows either. I am not a very good fisherman, but I keep trying and enjoy getting out on our area lakes.
