I use a rig very similar to what you have but I use several sizes of shrink tubing instead of hard tubing. If necessary I can hit the shrink tube with a lighter for a few seconds to make it fit better.

That is a great idea. I would have never thought of doing that..

This is why I like posting this to a forum because now I have even better ideas being thrown at me
