I have 4 BPS cranking sticks 2 7'M action and 2 7'MH one rigged with heavier line 15lb floro one rigged with 12lb mono I use the M action with mono for yellow magics and smaller cranks 1.0-1.5 the others are for bigger cranks 2.5-5xd if u wanna have a high hook up ratio with cranks you need the correct rod and good hooks. Just some rod with a soft tip isn't ideal and less than ideal doesn't do when you crank allot especially in tournaments. Now for weekend bank beating who cares

The E6X crankbait rods are pretty nice for the money. A little higher than your budget though

I just bought a couple of Lews David Fritts cranking rods, including the 7 medium which has been great for square bills. Only around $80. Take a look at em'!

I love my Veritas cranking rods. Haven't lost a fish yet since I bought them.

but the warranty makes it worth it. Best freshwater rod at ICast this year and at $179 that's not a bad price.

Just because a rod doesn't say "crank bait rod" on it doesn't mean it can't have a soft progressive action rather than a soft tip. I've handled several different brand crank bait rods and they vary widely in action. I like a rod I can control in tight spaces and soft to my preferences. If it suits me it's probably better for me than one that suits you.

I have both, the Omen and Duckett rods. I prefer the Micro Magic over the Black Omen as it seems to be a little lighter and softer.

I am a big fan of the Omen rods but just not for cranks.

haha wow... yeah I guess that'd do it! You have like 180* opposite desired specs from me, so they are perfect for me. Definitely makes sense you wouldn't be attracted to them with those criteria though.

Have you looked at any of the powel rods? They have some glass rods in your budget that seem very nice that I have almost ordered. Also Berkley has the E-motion line which seems cheap and attractive, thinking about getting a few of those for my non-boater friends who don't fish much, make a few cheap rigs and round out my collection with some cheaper rods for less sensitivity intensive techniques, and just to see if I like them.
