If you want something stout that will last you a long time, find a short piece of 1/2" conduit and hammer one end flat. That's what I've been using when I fish punch bait, and it works great!

Was able to get in an hour today at noon and caught one good one!!!

On corn. The punch bait had no bites. Corn had 3 bites, lost a good one at the bank, a turtle bang , and caught this nice sized one!

I want to make this punch bait work, so far shrimp and corn out performing.

Is this strange? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

The swirling the hook in the bait with pliers was a good tip! Worked well thanks!

What my friends and I have used for 25 plus years is what a lot of people call weed or sticker pullers . They look like a screwdriver with a fork on the end , just hook the treble with the fork put some tension on the line with the other hand and shove the hook into the punch bait pull sticker puller out of the bait and pull the line out sideways .

Best part of using a stick is we just keep them on the back of the huntdeck and toss them after when we head in.

I made pokers out of dollar store flat tip screwdrivers that I filed a notch in the middle of the blade to set the hook in. I poke it to the bottom and pull out at an angle and then throw it out there. It is especially good if used early in the morning under trees that have a lot of water birds roosting in it at night.

You know that old saying "Some people march to the beat of a different drummer."? I don't listen to a drum at all and have meandered through life instead of marching.
