donothin, when you say it wouldn't stay in place, do you mean rotationally or vertically (if that makes sense)?

I had a float that used a truck tube to inflate so it was perfectly round. The fishing buddy was inserted into a holster that was made specifically for the fishing buddy. But it would slip around the tube (rotate) so that it would not be oriented right. I may not have had enough pressure in the tube. Hopefully the fishingmount thing will work better. The graphics will certainly be better than the old fishing buddy but probably not better than the 2016 version.

Gotcha. Thanks! In the process of fitting out a Fishcat 4 and am thinking of this option.

I have used this on my float tube forever. It is cheap and I've never had a problem with it.

I have been looking into a finder for my floater. I had an older hand held model but it quit on me and I didn't like it anyway.
I read a good review on a new hand held and it is cheap!
I've been trying to find a Fishing Buddy with no luck. Is it just everyone has sold out for the Holidays? There seem to be several mounts for them, surely one of them works.
My problem with the larger finders is what donothin said, I am put off by the large and heavy battery.

The Fishin Buddy line was discontinued a couple of years ago, but is being re-released under 2 new models in 2016.

How long does that feeder battery last on the water?

I bought a hawkeye hand held for dock fishing, it has a strap you can put around your neck and the transducer has a float onto it you just drop in the water, runs on 4 aaa batteries gonna try it out on my water wagon this spring,it reads depth and marks fish but really doesn't show contours but has symbols for bottom types, but it has marked the fish depth well and has helped me finding suspended fish, runs around 100 bucks shipped to your house don't use cheap batteries by the lithium and it works well
