After reading about all the people who don't have a use for a 4x4 but have one just in case im pretty sure having one must make your wiener feel bigger. No wonder America has debt problems. ....I buy them because I can....in addition I can afford it and its there if needed..

I've never owned a 4 wheel drive, but have towed with a half ton 2wd truck and Tahoe for years. I've considered a 4wd but always went with a 2wd because I didn't feel like paying extra upfront and didn't want to have more parts that could break. But if I used marginal boat ramps or was on a deer lease with un-improved access, I would buy a 4wd. It is sorta like insurance I guess.... may not need it, but got it in case. Lots of guys buy it just cause it's macho/cool....kinda like white sunglasses and $300 ice chests...lol.

Great discussion guys. I think I'm going to stick with a 2WD. No offroading or ranch work for me. Just boat ramps.

X2 on the locker, lots of use for very little up front cost and no added maintenance.

Every truck I own is 4wd. Call it short penile syndrome, macho, whatever. ... I can afford it, don't believe it's a huge maintenance burden, can live with slightly less gas mileage and I don't live in a concrete covered world.

More expensive up front, better resale. Tires will solve 95% of boat ramp issues. Bad tires and 4 wheel drive dont do alot of good.
