Last year in May, they stacked up here for a month. I would be home before the wife would wake up to go to work. As fast as u could drop a slab, u were hooked up. Five jigs = 5 fish. It was fun.

Now they are still moving up on Hybrid Point to feed AM and PM.

As with most lakes, they are not on a 100% pattern.n80% of the days we to we limit or we just don't find them. Very odd year. If a thermocline happens, it's game on.

What ap are you using for this? I fished for the first time this year today, we caught 4 dinks (2 crappie and 2 sandbass) at Avalon then caught about 20 at the main point of the Island. We kept 10 keepers 12-14".

I'm pretty sure that is Navionics.

I had planned to be on Lavon today but my mom ended up going into the hospital. So obviously we did other things.

Yes, Navionics. It's $9.99 per year. It has stuff that my main unit does not have on it.

Found 34 mags ( 14 inch sand bass) in 6 foot of water in Glasshouse Cove pushing shad on the banks. Storm yesterday had us locked in Collin park for an hour. Seagulls are starting to show up. Even caught a bunch on top water plugs.

I am guessing Glass house cove is near Collin park? Do you think they will still be there?

They r roaming. They have not stopped and laid up somewhere. You have to hunt for them everyday.

Lavon Report:

Epic. Started at 3:45 and had our limit at 4:07. Solid magnum Sandy's! Either they were 8 to 12 inches or they are 15 to 17 inches. When we first started we got nothing but magnums. Got literally over 100 within an hour. We decided to move and find something a little bit more challenging. Every spot we went was full of fish. Had a Dad and his son beating the banks with crank baits and they saw us killing the Sandy's and motored over to us and asked how we're doing that? I gave the dad some slabs and told him to stay near my boat no more than 20 to 30 foot. They ended up from catching one or two fish before we met, to leaving with over 40 within an hour. The kid was having a blast and even talking smack to his dad after every fish. It absolutely did not matter what color or size slab we sent down to them. Seagulls and terns are all over the lake busting on top watering Sandy's. Most of the fish under the birds are 8 to 11 inches. Main points anywhere from 5 to 25 foot are holding the mags. So it's definitely time to hit the lake!

What an Epic day. Wow. Lavon is just on fire with the sand bass bite. We started 4 pm. Met the clients at the restaurant at Collin Park Marina. Good food yall. Staff is nice. Behind the marina is a shop with smokes, ropes, fuses, life jackets, bumpers, boat plugs, blah.

Bring the kids to the restaurant. After you're done eating you can throw your scraps off the end of the dock and watch all the carp come up. There's also a quarter machine that you can get a handful of fish food. Or just bringing a bunch of dog food of your own. Just keep an eye on the kids it's a 15 foot deep and no fence.

We are using white slabs from Moestackleshop.com with a white thump buddy from Constantpursuitoutfitters.com 15 inches above the slab. Also using gohst minnow slabs I make and 5/8 th oz jigging spoon slabs

We got to the spot they have been holding for the last week at 4 pm. Had four guys in the boat and myself. Told them drop the slab cause we're on fish. Before I got the trolling motor down, all four guys were hooked up. Three of them had doubles. Almost every drop produced a double. So with 5 guys, every drop in 12-17 ft of water would total 7-10 fish every time we're would drop. I cut off all but one barb of the treble hooks and crimped the last barb. If I didn't do that, the trebles would have left a trail of dead fish behind the boat.

The fish were 90% Magnum Sand Bass. Either they were 8 to 11 inches or they were magnum 15 to 17 inches. When we first started we caught nothing but magnums every drop. Towards the end before dark the smaller one started to move in. The guys were betting on who would catch the most fish. So they were literally counting the entire trip. Our slabs rarely would even have a chance to hit the bottom before you to have a fish. That went on from 4 o'clock till 8:45 PM. Right before dark I turned on my green lights and the fish stayed under boat until then, then shut down on us.

The amazing total for the trip was "973" white Bass! With a 90% average 15 to 17 inch white bass. Maybe 75 to 100 of those were under 11 inches. The rest were just Giants!

No that is not a typo, 973 fish were boated. For three hours there was not one moment that nobody had a fish on or taking one off.. Second best trip I've ever had in my career on a half day trip. And barely any small fish.

My buddy David met us out there and realized he forgot his lights. We dropped his boat off and he hopped on and we hit Hybrid Point to finish the day. Within a half an hour we picked off little over 100 just at hybrid point alone. If all of us got a double on each drop, we would pull up 12 fish every drop with David in the boat. The Sandy's were super super hungry as they have been for over a week. The magnums are starting to fatten up very quick from being at the creeks on there Spawning run. I'd say in about two weeks they're gonna be super thick and fighting even harder.

Man what an epic day indeed, only thing that could have been better would have been some less wind. What the pictures don't quite show is how fat these sandies are this year, even the little guys are fighting like nags. Go get you some is all I can say!
