hopalong. u can ask for whatever u want, does not mean people will pay for it. Put a 82 champion on the market for 9,000 and see if it will sell. Im willing to bet u will be using that boat for a long time.

Cajuns were great boat I had tow of them. If you like it and it runs good get it you won't be sorry. Pat is just repeating rumers he heard. Travis did not destroy them or any other company they just had shifty customer service they would not fix anything unless u fired them to. The cust cost by using the john spl motors, they are considers one of the best motors Johnson made. When they were no longer available the fitted them with the force an other cheap Motor. You can't skimp on boat building the have to meet a minamum stander set my the government and coast guard. So to say they used short cuts and mad the substanderd and ruined them is just a dump thing to say Pat give a lot of [censored] advise and won't admit when he is wrong. Cajun and a bunch of other boat were bought out my tracker they same company that owns ranger skeeter and a bunch of others. The discontinued them because they they had tomany boat with identical play forms. They are good boats I say get it. And don't take advice from pat on boats

Over many years, I have found Pat to know more about boats than anyone on this forum, bar none. Why do feel his advice is worthless?

No corner is left un-cut, nothing on that boat that isn't the cheapest way possible. Un coated plywood, bare stringers, be very aware of what you're looking at.

I have known this man for many many years. He has bought sold and Been a Representative for more boat manufactures than most of us will ever see. Take his advice.

jason77, you might want to look into pats background before calling him out on his boat knowledge as I would guess he has been around more boats and manufacturers than you can count.

I agree, because people "have to have that new shiny bauble", I would put my 82 up against any much newer boat in the same length group. I have never been one to keep up with the joneses.

simply saying that just because you buy a brand new 50k boat does not mean you bought a better boat than an older hull design.

I will throw in that with the list of what the champion has had done and everything included it is well worth 9k when compared to newer.

It would be nice if people like jason77 would slow their rants and take time to spell correctly. It would make their rants easier to understand.

For anyone to call the problems of a Cajun Travis Edition a "rumor he heard" tells me right away to quit reading and start laughing at the post. The shoddiness of the build quality of a Travis Edition anyboat is well documented. Try to sell one to a knowledgeable boat guy. Won't happen.

The problem is people are comparing a 50k new boat to a <10k boat...

For people who don't have the budget to spend that much...staying dry at 70mph in 3 foot swales...doesn't matter.

They can choose between a small new boat with a little motor...or an older boat with a larger motor that's been cared for.

Pats advice is good...but kind of compares to a politician talking caviar to a mine worker.

So Drilla, now that you've got advice from a few boat guys, are you going to buy it??

Nobody said don't buy a used boat, and nobody said you had to spend the kids college money on one.

There are really well built hulls in the same vintage that a person should look at, there are also some horribly built hulls that a person should avoid. By no means did I single out just travis, I wouldn't own a bayliner, fiberglass tracker, VIP, or a dozen other junk hulls that were built back then. For every one person who likes their decision, there's a hundred who regretted it.

+1 also add Tidecraft to that list.
