I'm looking forward to breaking out the kayak and exploring back in the creeks once the water gets back to normal and the temps cool off a bit. I can't even guess as to what it will look like after so much flooding. No doubt, I hope we can still get up and down the creek. I would suspect there are a lot of new trees laid down in the water.

Yes the hybrids and whitebass were chasing shad up against the rocks at my feet. They moved in and out several times over a 30 minute period. Get there as early as possible and fish just a little further down from the end of the dock. I didn't see any hybrids busting the surface in the slack water, everything was in the fast moving water. It is very hard to keep the slack out of your line when the current pushes it right back at you but that was where the fish were busting the shad..

Lake level is 252.5. 14.5 feet above normal. Releasing 2300 cfs.

caught 7 on Sunday against the rocks on the dam (in the lake). Aggressive bite but not many fish. Nice day though. Cj's 2-6 feet of water. Males (I think) still were colored pretty gray. I'm guessing the spawn might be over?? Kind of lonesome on the lake. No boat ramps open yet but you can see it's coming down fast. Overlook marina is open for business on weekends. It's pretty and quiet up there. Worth making the trip.

Lake Somerville level is currently at 251.77. 13.77 feet above normal. Release rate is currently 2275 cfs. Lake is continuing to recede at about 1/4 foot per day.
By the end of the month, without more rain, the Lake level should be down another 3.5 feet. Around 10 feet above normal. Overlook boat ramp may be able to open up somewhere close to that time. It should be one of the first to open back up. I'll post information as I find out.

July 18th the lake is at 250.92 releasing 2251cfs

Looks like good fishing right now, but can't justify a four hour round trip for 20 minutes of good fishing.  I'm glad to see the water levels dropping. Hopefully it'll be back to normal in time for the fall/winter Crappie fishing.

The lake is expected to be near normal level by labor day but most of the parks won't be back online until spring..
