Fair in the rain, and I mean the rain,( hard) finally let up about 3Pm, A lot of nice box fish 20" or so with a few 10#ers in the mix. About 3:30 or so the horn blows 2X, they make a gate change to about 40,000 or so, it got real slow after that.

Since you are so polite and said the magic word "please", I will let you in.

Depending on the size and the length of the popper, you can add 30 to 80 copper BBs(4.5mm). For Lazy eye, you add less BBs than Cotton Cordell pencil poppers, since Lazy eye cast better than Cotton Cordell. Over all, you want your poppers to weight about 2.5oz, 3oz, or 3.5oz.

Warning: weight added popper can fly and sink like a rock. So as soon as it hit the water, you need to bring it up to the surface.

Both reels are very good choice. I have both. Ultegra 5500 is very smooth and powerful. For Daiwa, 4500 size reel is big enough. Try to have a reel as light as possible with sufficient line capacity and good drag.

Decided to make the run across the border and fish Denison Dam. Struck out.... Did have a Cormorant go for a Pencil Popper and ended up getting foul hooked. Luckily, with the help of another fisherman to hold the bird's head down, was able to remove the hook! Mainly fished the Texas side but as things turned out, should have fished the Oklahoma side as the Stripers seemed to be cooperating with the fishermen... observed several Stripers caught using Bucktail/Fluke Jigs as well as live Shad freelined into the current. Also, saw a nice Bruiser... no pictures or video - SD Card ran out of memory. That said, the video we did take is posted in the link. Do note the number of boats passing through the area. Fun stuff? Today's Video.
