OK, I've got two large Academy square bills, I believe the CRM. One is silent the other has a rattle. Both have the "X" type trademark on the bottom. I've come to like the one with the rattle and so I thought I'd throw the silent some just to see if it was as effective. In looking at it closely, I saw that it had a noticably smaller lip. I don't know which I purchased first. I got these several yrs ago. My question is did they change bills from larger to smaller, or smaller to larger. I would like to order a few, but I prefer the larger bill because it comes through cover better. By larger I mean a little wider and extended out a little more to the sides at the front. The smaller bill is sort of a rectangle where the larger is sort of a trapezoid. Both are about the same length. Or, is it that the silent always just have a little smaller bill? I'm not where I can just go to an Academy store to look.

Interesting question. . .I might be going to Academy tonight, if I'm there I'll take a look for ya. I use a lot of their squarebills and never really noticed.

Some of them are made in a coffin pattern if that is what you are referring to in regards to shape.

over time you will see differences. Mainly due to advances in technology and preferences from the pros. Most lures are designed based on feedback from product testing and pros. I encourage you to take a look at a lot more of your cranks...you will be surprised. I have some rapalas that are 5 years apart and are technically the same bait but have clear differences....

What's up with the H2Os? Somebody please tell me they are decent and catch fish so I can save 100s of dollars every year.

Spend a few bucks and find out. I've caught them good on the CRS+ and the CRS. Just started using the CRM. They just have to be applied in the right places and times. I've not had another guy in the boat with a high dollar one at the same time to compare, but they make me happy.

Great lures!!!! Only downfall is split ring, buy some good ones and replace. I normally throw my square bills in heavy cover, feels way better when I break a $3 over $6....

The CRM has the rattle and larger bill. The silent one is not a CRM and has always had a smaller bill.

Not bad baits, make sure you change the hooks though!

I've caught a ton of fish on the jointed squarebills. Never used the solid body though.

don't let that out about those jointed square bills because they are great because no one else has that type of bait.

Not bad baits, make sure you change the hooks though! Why's that? Most of those baits come with really decent VMC round bends. Better than most stock hooks imo.

The stock hooks are pretty sticky. I have yet to have a bass throw an H20 bait. And the hooks also stick really well to shirts, pants, hands, other rods, and even boat carpet.
