Our guy Jake and his buddy Nick went out with Mark Pack on Fork recently, and they had a great time catching some solid bass out deep! Mark showed the guys how he uses Mag Flukes rigged weightless to catch bass that are suspended out in that deep water. Graphing the fish was key to find what depth they were suspended at, then it was just a matter of getting that weightless fluke down there which took a little patience (and some counting!). Pretty killer technique though. Big thanks to Mark for passing on those tips, and letting us film our day-on-the-water with him! Had a blast!

Everyone in the Bass Champs tournament will be out with their weightless violet Flukes in the deep water trying to catch one of those 24 inch overs. That just might be a good plan. if I only knew where to fish Fork Deep.

One of the keys to these areas Mark took us was depth change like a ridge, hump or point. If you start at the mouths of major creeks and move out to the main lake structure you will run into these spots where these fish move to after they spawn. The thermocline will set up here in next couple weeks very well and this will push these deep fish a little shallower. Usually no deeper than 25ft. When this happens the fish seem to school up on the shallower structure and sit right above the thermocline. They will also sit of off the structure but still above the thermocline. This should make them easier to catch. No idea if i spelled "thermocline" so feel free to correct it.

I've caught fish with Mark the past two summers with this technique, in 35 feet of water which was about 20 feet deeper than the thermocline. Don't believe everything you read.

Mr. Pack took me to school last year with those disco violet magnum flukes in August. It's really neat to fish with someone who is so confident in what he's doing and simply produce the way he does. To hear how he describes the difference between species of fish and big fish versus little fish as your sitting there watching them on that big screen, then you cast and count down and - and wham! sometimes they would hit it and you would set the hook and miss it, and then the next fish would come over and smash it! Like a pack of wolfs sitting around watching an injured animal waiting for their chance to come in an ambush it's prey. It would be awesome to see a video recording of it somehow.

Would it be possible by Mark Pack to show a screen shot of what this looks like please? This would be helpful to find a similar situation on our home lakes. Thanks.

I have had 6 bags of those DISCO VIOLET FLUKES ever since last August. Dang if I can get those fish to hit them. I need to go out with Mr. Pack & let him teach me. I may be 63 but I am never too old to learn
