I'd be careful where I got my info from. . .she's clearly wrong about the water loss, who knows about the rest.

There is not a hole in the OC dam. Also what could a welder do? The dam is earth and concrete.

I'm pretty sure the flood gates are metal and they are part of the dam....

It's been about 13-15 years since I've been to San Angelo. I remember there was a lake that was dry out there. A big lake. Seems like maybe on the west side of town a few miles out. Is that lake full now?

That's Twin Buttes; I imagine somebody will correct me on this but I want to say it's at around 20-21% capacity....it's about 1-2 feet from the bottom of the unloading ramp.

Is that lake full now? I'm pretty sure you're talking about OC Fisher. Twin Buttes has NEVER been dry, close to it but not dry. 15 years ago it had a good amount of water in it. OC went dry a while back, around your time frame, and remained that way mostly until this summer. In mid may the lake caught 20 FOW in about 8 hours.

Man last time I was at Fisher 5 years or so ago one of the Park Rangers said there was a problem with the dam.

If there is a problem with the dam why don't they just let all of the water go to Ivie?

I'll just throw this out there. I've fished at a lot of lakes in Texas. Seems like almost every one is rumored to have a leak in the dam at some point in time. Maybe they really do have some issue, I dunno. But I can tell you that OC has lost a foot of water in 6 weeks, and that's almost certainly due to evaporation. If there's some kind of leak, it's either very minor or above the water line.

Looks like Ivie is up 2 foot now and still climbing. The sand and grass island on the main lake should be under water by this weekend.

The lady said the gates are frozen; they won't go up or down...I guess they're SOL if a big rain comes and they need em....that's just the info I was given when it started catching water in May, maybe something's changed, but I highly doubt it.
